So retakers...how difficult is the PM session really?

What is defined as wrecked on the AM? All <50%, half <50?

I would say 90% less than 50% on the AM. If you’re half <50% you might actually be closer to the average://

PM is a breeze compared to the AM. My AM scores were a train wreck, 8 <50. It’s hard to battle back from that kind of performance. Immediately after taking the AM portion I really didn’t think it was that hard. After looking over the exam questions I missed so many little tricks that cost me a pass. I was >70 in all but one topic section in the PM. Band 10. Moral of the story. Don’t get annihilated in the AM. You can only make up so many points in the PM.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: damage control in the AM, and kill it in the PM.

(ignore the non-experienced LIII first-timers who say to “try your best and do equally well in both”)

If we assume the MPS is around 63-65%, and you “killed it in the PM” with an average score of 83% (I.e., only one incorrect answer per vignette), then you need to score better than 50% in the AM to have a reliable chance of passing. As easy as that sounds, it’s really not considering your written answer is either right or wrong with little room for partial credit. Now combine that with the fact that most first-timers will leave some questions entirely blank (that’s 15-30 points, out the window) due to insufficient time management…

I wonder how much time is wasted on these blogs with people saying the exact same thing in different formats. If i could just take all that time and convert it into CFA knowledge, i wouldnt study for the next 50 days.
