This is one instance where being black is an asset.

I have no idea. He just yelled obscenities towards me and threw it back. I felt awkward picking it up because it sort of looked like a homeless guy was giving me money.

Troof.

Nothing emasculating about this. This sort of thing happens all the time. In this here country, paying someone to f*ck off is called a “bribe.”

Back in my younger foolish days, yes. I can’t remember instigating a fight myself, but did notice that whenever someone challenged me and I accepted that challenge, 9 out of 10 times they’d back down. The guy tries to make it look like their bro’s are holding him back, but mostly it’s because he realizes someone (me) has called his bluff and he doesn’t actually want to take a whippin’. Anyone else feel this way?

^agreed. I’ll gladly pay somebody $5 to avoid getting into a fight–even a fight that I know I can win.

Goes double if I’m walking with a girl, even if I don’t plan on boning her that night. She should be thanking you that he didn’t stab you, then rape her.

Most brothas are like this. Most act like dey ain’t gon be no sucka and whoop an ass due to someone stepping on their shoe. It’s all a ruse for most. A select few of my race painted a tough guy imagae for the rest of us.

^ha guess u never seen the wire

I don’t find homeless guys scary or threating as much, probably cause they are so many around in downtown LA - Skid Row is practically a whole city of tents right on the sidewalks over several blocks, pretty close to the financial district. They appear for the most part either entertaining or mildly annoying, rarely seem aggressive. Smell is the biggest downside, particularly when it’s hot which is most of the time.

A homeless guy once walked with me and my girl for two blocks to my car, telling jokes half of which I didn’t get. He practically earned the $2 bucks I gave him in end, which is respectable. More recently, some homeless dude walked backwards in front of me as I was heading to a nearby lunch spot, announcing traffic lights and when it’s safe to cross the street. This service was useless as I informed him in advance, so I gave him nothing for the effort.

If Bill Gates drops a $100 bill, it literally is not worth his time to stop walking and pick it up.
