Can’t you set up a trust to “accept” the cash so you don’t have to supply your name & photo. I’m pretty sure a woman here in the Chicago area did something like that. She waited a few months to get the trust stared and then showed up but didn’t supply her contact info, photo, etc. Or I could just be remembering this incorrectly.
If I won the lottery, the first thing I’d do is tell everyone I opened a brokerage account and bet it all in deep out of the money options that went to zero. Then I could be left alone.

How often do you scan those lists to see if anyone you know has won lately? Just because the information is public does not necessarily mean people will find out… 
I don’t think this guy’s problems have to do with the information being public. He probably got swindled because many of his pre-lottery associates were poor people and scumbags. Plus, having gone from being a “truck driver’s assistant” to having some $20mm after tax, he probably lacked the knowledge to keep people from cheating him of his money.
