I had a bunch of custom shirts and suits tailored in Beijing for pretty cheap. I think much of SE Asia has good custom tailor services if you’re ever over there. They have it in the US too but the materials and labor are significantly more expensive.
Being the cheapo I guess I am, I buy a suit or two a year from Banana Republic outlet and have them tailored up to fit me perfectly, I have a great tailor. Costs me $500 for a suit more or less including alternations. I rarely wear suits though, interviews or special meetings/occasions only. Occasionally I’ll wear one for fun. Sat down with some Euro bankers this morning in jeans, cowboy boots and a button down with a sports coat. Typically its dress pants and button down for me with the occasional sports coat (I have blue and grey in my office). I wear suits every day when I’m in Toronto or anywhere in the US on business though as everyone is more serious down there.
