That’s exactly the main problem with me as well…I think I am close to 70% in 4 subjects:Eco,CF,Equity and FI and rest above 70…Now I can get 70+ in every area as well which is a very high chance according to me(I have got 4-5 wrong in each of these and rest I am backing my knowledge). But still if my bad luck prevails,in the worst case I will fall up 50-70 in these four(at the most extreme).I really can’t guess about ethics.Though sure it will not fall below 50…!!
Well not to lie I am also expecting close to 100% in FRA.I matched nearly all the questions which I remembered and that’s the only area where I did not make any mistake(In my Opinion). So,I am having a strong positive hope because of this part.
me.too actually…i dnt think i.got anything wrong just taking a margin of safety…i got one question wrong in fra and as i was about to change the time was up
This is my first post on this forum, I’ve been coming here to read comments but thought I’d join the conversation
This was my first attempt at the CFA exam, I personally found the morning exam much trickier than the afternoon. I probably put in a good 350 hours using Schweser and Qbank, did the CFA mock also. There were a lot of questions I wasn’t so sure about… and I know that I got eight “freebie” questions wrong due to the stress of the exam… feeling a little concerned.
I put a lot of time into FRA, Ethics, Quants, Derivatives, and FI… so I’m thinking I’ll be more in the 60-65 range overall… has anyone who’s written level 1 found a bunch of mistakes after the exam and still managed to pass?
practice exams help minigate getting freebie questions wrong. or at least that’s my strategy. after you get used to the stress level, you will be able to focus on speed and accuracy.
If it makes you feel any better, I failed Band 10 in June (70+ in Alternatives, Corp, and Ethics, Below 50% in Quant and Econ, 50-70 everything else). Walking out of that exam I felt like I guessed A LOT and also missed some easy ones. This time around, I definitely felt like I guessed a lot less (especially in econ and FRA), but there are still 5-7 questions that I’m pretty confident I flat out missed.
Ultimately, if you are going to fail you are going to fail. We can likely get around 75 wrong and still pass, so missing 8 freebies isn’t a great indicator of passing or failing at this point.
I’m sure others have done this but out of all the questions that you found the trickiest or you could swear 2 of the 3 choices were equally good, when you checked your notes and the curriculum, how many of the questions would you say you got right vs how many you picked the wrong answer ?
From my own experience, there were about 15 questions off the bat that I remembered and looked up when I got home. Out of those after checking my notes I correctly answered 11 and got wrong 4. However there were also about 5-7 questions which I thought I got right and I ended up getting wrong. I also missed about 4-5 freebies I would say because I complicated the question too much. Mind you, this is all from what I remember. I’m sure I have more that I got wrong as well, I just can’t seem to remember the questions and choices as clearly as the questions I referenced above.
missing freebies is my worst nightmare. yeah, im not able to recall as many of the questions now, after a few days. the night of the exam, when i came home, i couldn’t fall asleep but i was so tired. it was a dreadful feeling.
I found moring part is much tricker than afternoon part, And there were a lot of questions in corporate finance and equity that I was not sure about. After the exam, I found I made mistakes on the several easy questions. I think the style of exam is kinda different from mock.
