I started two years ago, started lessons last fall and hit the ball great like 3 weeks ago, then a week later, i somehow forgot everything, and don’t feel like I can go play. Range yesterday started getting it back a little bit, has its up and downs that is for sure!
So the president of the company I work for (the same one I mentioned earlier in the thread who gave me money for new clubs) sends me an email a few weeks back to clear my calendar for the first week of June. He’s taking me and some of the executives to Pebble for the week. We will be playing Pebble twice, Spyglass once, and Spanish Bay once. Since it’s a “business trip” travel, lodging, meals, golf, and caddies are covered.
^Go to Compagno’s Deli in Monterey. It’s on the corner of Prescott and Taylor streets.
It’s a little building that looks like it’s about to fall down. At first glance, you’ll probably be afraid to go near it. And it doesn’t get any better when you go inside. But the food is phenomenal. My friend from Brooklyn says their Reubens are the best you’ll find west of the Hudson River.
It took me about 15 range sessions/lessons before I could hit a solid contact 8/10 times, and into the air relatively straight. (just a clean contact, not far or perfectly straight)
I felt decent attempting an easy course at that point, but that 8/10 goes way down when you’re on an actual course - have fun, just don’t put anyone in danger (can’t control the direction of the ball), and try not to hold up play too much.
I’ve seen this kind of thing before. First it’s a good old fashioned retreat in some secluded and exclusive location. Then, the next thing you know it, you’re in a basement surrounded by a bunch of old white guys in goat skins with a pentagram drawn on the floor with chicken blood. We’ve all been there at some point.
Given that I’ve been a member here for over 9 years, thankfully the exams are a distant memory. Back in my day, we actually had to buy the source text books for study material. You kids today have it so easy.
“All guests of The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay and Casa Palmero have access to Pebble Beach Golf Links and the other courses at Pebble Beach Resorts. Only Resort guests may reserve tee times more than 24 hours in advance at Pebble Beach.”
So technically speaking, anyone can play there, but I suspect getting a tee time with less than 24 hours notice ain’t gonna happen unless you’re someone very important.
Why are Nicole Scherzinger and Rihanna even on the list? Evenyone knows that Tiger likes white women. Of those on the list, I would put my money on Britney Spears.
