Thoughts? 7 Year old beat to death

True, I’m not defending it as right, I pointed out that I’m definitely against it, and it is wrong. It just doesn’t seem AS extreme to me as some people made it out to be, demanding 20 year sentences or life in prison and the such.

I mean, we did waterboard the occasional rebellious cow, but who doesn’t?

^ Waterboarding cows is entirely defensible, and not just for the valuable intelligence information gathered.

Well I agree to the view that we view each animal distinctly…

I am a pure vegetarian, I dont own a dog - but my heart skips a couple of beats when I hear the cry of hen from the nearby slaughter house!!

But well I am not holy, I do kill mosquitoes/ant which bite me

I have no respect and time for men who abuse children, the elderly and the disabled … verbally, physically, emotionally, financially or in any other way!

^ this! Read about Baby P (mentioned in your earlier comment) and Victoria Climbie’ too! Thats just too sad!

yes

Men who abuse women?

There are women who abuse men too. I don’t believe that women are as disadvanatged as the other 3 categories in my list. They make up for the relatively less physical strength in other mysterious powers they have over men.

But to answer your question, there is no excuse for men or women abusing one other but to inflict it upon a child, an old person or a disabled person is absolutely unforgiveable in my book.

No, you don’t have to have kids to feel empathy, but it does matter. The degrees to which I was affected by news stories like this has greatly increased since I had kids. My wife can’t even watch the local news anymore because it’s always about some tragedy befalling a kid.

The only way someone would understand is if he/she was a parent. There is really no other way to gain that type of perspective. I mentioned this earlier in the post but the movie “The Road” was disturbing to me in so many different ways. You would have to be a parent to understand.

^Have you read Hyperion? The story about Rachel really got to me. It wouldn’t have bothered me in the least before I had kids…especially a daughter.

Edit: Me grammar bad

That happened to me. Before having kids I couldn’t even notice other kids’ existence besides the inconvenience of hearing their tantrums or loud voices. Now I probably just became soft after having a daughter.

Edit: and a son; always forget the kid.

For some reason the grammar in the title of this thread bothers me more than the content.
