Tipping Etiquette for Residential Building Staff

I’ve never had a doorman, but if a building with a door man costs more than a very similar building without a doorman, the answer is $0. You can’t charge more for an amenity and then also expect me to tip. If your building has a pool, do you tip the guy that comes out to clean it? Perhaps I’m just not used to a door man, but they sure seem about as useful as the guy in the titty bar bathroom who dispense paper towels for me. He should be paying me. You know how hard it is to take a shit with him standing their with a bar cart full of chiclets and cologne?

Just to be clear - there isn’t a doorman, just front desk staff. I have to open my own dang doors, its such a shame.

I agree with people’s thoughts that tipping should be based on whether service was over and above standard job requirements (or apart of salary requirements i.e waitor).

tipping is a retarded concept imo. but i always do what is expected. so 15% for everything. at my work, everything is valet. they force it on us plus they tell us not to tip. speaking of which i was just at a chinese buffett, and they specifically mentioned not to tip too. DOWN WITH TIPS!
