Just to be clear - there isn’t a doorman, just front desk staff. I have to open my own dang doors, its such a shame.

I agree with people’s thoughts that tipping should be based on whether service was over and above standard job requirements (or apart of salary requirements i.e waitor).

Been looking online, advice seems very inconsistent… from pooling to giving each doorman an envelope with money… too confusing! What if you’ve only part of the year?

tipping is a retarded concept imo. but i always do what is expected. so 15% for everything. at my work, everything is valet. they force it on us plus they tell us not to tip. speaking of which i was just at a chinese buffett, and they specifically mentioned not to tip too. DOWN WITH TIPS!
