yo son, you can’t come up in here, cop an attitude and expect us to ride yo alphabet-soup-credential havin’ dick.
Remember that joke, I got’s an MBA, CFA, MD, JD, PHD… but I ain’t got me a JOB.
It ain’t a joke.
Just realized your name was Destroyer of Worlds. Do you know Shiva personally? I wouldn’t mind hanging out with him/her, buy him/her a drink or something…
One is good. Two sounds fine, but nerdy. Three seems like you don’t have a life or anything better to do in the real world (think Asian guy with accounting degree and no social skills, compensates by going after every single related qualification)
I put my qualifications down at the bottom of my resume, after college. I’d put a cf a charter front and center only I were applying for a job that is strictly related like equity research analyst.
Otherwise there are probably ten other things I’d rather let them know about me first. These things are much cooler than a cfa charter.
The nice thing about the qualifications for me is that it shuts up any jackass who didn’t study at an elite Anglo Saxon style school, where they make you major in Greek or something unrelated to finance.
To everyone that is hating on multiple designations…you do know that this website’s main purpose is a forum for people that are, uh, studying for designations, right? In any event, it gives me great pleasure that I just skated up in here and tossed a grenade, given the unexpected passion expressed about this topic.
No real hate on having multiple designations, you’re just socially retarded and essentially proving the negative perception of people that have them.
“Diminishing marginal value”.
No one is expressing “unexpected passion” about it. From your responses, it seems clear you came here to get justification or confirmation on what you believe. Then when people started to say the opposite of what you wanted to hear, you got all defensive and say everyone is ‘hating on it’. No one’s hating. you wanted opinions, and you got them.
Well, I don’t know about the other guy, but I haven’t! Real question; what is FRM?? Is it actually a serious exam? I’ve heard of CAIA, personally I don’t take it seriously, for no good reason.
the subject should change to “too many credentials in the air can hang you”
Thanks to most of you for completely missing the point of the post. My bad, I should have specified: “If you have real knowledge of the HR process/are a real entity in investments, please respond. On the other hand, if your cojones are larger from the privacy of your parents’ basement than they are in person, please do not bother replying.”
ok now you’re just trolling. good luck living in your bubble world
This is a strange thread.
^ big stud…where u been mane?
Funny this troll is not.
I quit paying attention when I realized he took Mensa seriously.
I’ll drop some straight troof.
To Destroyer,
Please take this gracefully, but you seem to have a vice. Like you feel that you earned CFA, CAIA, FRM, BSD, MnA, etc. and now you should be recognized. It’s natural to feel that way, you’ve worked hard and you have a lot to be proud of. However, recognize that HR dilberts probably do not know, nor care, about many of the designations that are outside of the job description. You have to realize that you earned those credentials for your own self actualization, not as a right of passage to M’n’A on the buyside.
I’m repping the aforementioned designations along with an MBA. I’m compensated equally to those who do not have all that crap and simply play golf with the CEO’s kid. Life ain’t fair, but you live, learn, and keep on huslin.
Try to change your perception and present yourself as a hard working always trying to better oneself rather than someone who is owed a substantial amount for the blood sweat and tears. I’m on your side here and I’d like to see you benefit from all of your hard work while your counterparts were out at the bar chasing tail.
This is just my .02. I’m more optimistic than most of the ‘if you ain’t a Top 2 MBA BSD 3/3 >70 CFA at Citadel then you ain’t sht.’ rusty hacksaw types on AF.
WAIT. It’s top 2 MBA now?! This inflation is getting rediculous. Which one of the rankings are we talking about here?
Oh even I wasnt aware we had upgraded to top 2 MBA or castration . I was there when we started with top 10, and moved the cut off (pun intended) to top 5 and top 3… Pretty soon it’ll be either: Harvard or rusty hacksaw
Pretty soon it’s “if you aren’t Warren Buffet, a hacksaw on all your _sses.”
Warren, the future of the species is up to you!
