Topic Weights, this is BS

it blows my mind how much is in PM with only 1 item set. I honestly think it’d make more sense to do 2 PM item sets and maybe cut out 1 corp fi or smoosh a half corp fi half FSA one together. but who knows. i’d pretty much bank on 2 items sets for derivs and FI… but yeah, could there be a wildcard where we’d get 2 PM or 2 Quant or 2 Econ, sure, but it’d come at the expense of an equity/fsa/corp fi item set which seems a bit unlikely. you never know. i pray we only get 1 quant set. 2 would be bad news for this kid. PM is just so much stuff for 6 questions. that’s the one that just makes me wonder a bit.

PM has overlapping stuff with Econ and Equity (CAPM). so basically we are getting more than 6 Q’s in exam

yeah, and PM could be up to 15%

You know what’s real bull sh!t! - of all the million pages in port mgmt, they ask 6 questions on a fcuked up hidden LOS, burried somewhere in the crack. I am sure even the Portfolio Managers who took the test got a 0/6 there. Ply*n was able to knock out a 70% with his 20+ exp as a FI PM.

i got over 70% last year on PM SG. how you like 'dem apples? i still failed though, so those ROS ethics questions and BOP can just bite me.

Swap contract > valuation is just so mind-numbingly tedious. 5 questions in several hours for Reading 63 is good going as far as I’m concerned - I think I did in abut 4 hours. It’s a complete BS reading that you coud spend days on…

f’k me 6 vignettes on FSA in 2007. I’m the other way around, wish there were 2 item sets on quant and econ. So what are we saying spend no more than a few hours on PM if you are short of time?

Playing the CFAI weight game last year didn’t work out well for me. Focused too much on the big topics and not enough on the others at the end. Rocked FSA and Equity but fell short and got below a 50% in 3 of the smaller topic areas, which resulted in the dreaded fail Bombed PM and blew Derivatives. Pm is bs in my opinion. 5 of the 6 PM questions last year were waaaaay out in left field and such a small portion of PM. You could spend 3 weeks every day going over the info and not be ready for it they way that they test. Mwvt and Bannis were only a couple that I remember out of the regulars that got above 70% on PM> You really have to know everything. I’m hoping that they limit PM to one vignette, only because how obscure they make it.

Question about these topic weights: In the past (2005 - 2007) they had no Corporate Finance or Alt Inv? If these types of q’s were incorporated into other sections, then there really weren’t many questions on CF or AI then. CF used to be part of FSA and Alt Inv used to be in equity. They are both broken out into their own topics now.
