What is the new material for this year. Does anyone has a list?
This is what I found for last year… “Ok, looks like what I just posted is only 112 so adding one set to Equity will make it 120. New list: Ethics - Research Report w/CFA charterholder supervising analyst (6 Questions), New employee, old man supervisor, 4 managers talking over lunch (6 Questions) = 12 Questions Quant - Oil and Inflation = 6 Questions Economics - Rule of 70, New Growth, 1/3 Rule = 6 Questions Alternative Valuation - DPI, Valuation Method, Gross IRR = 6 Questions Corporate Finance - Dividend Theory (6 Questions), Capital Structure (6 Questions) - 12 Questions Fixed Income - MBS set with IFL Tranche (6 Questions), Set with with Portfolio A, B, and C?? (6 Questions) = 12 Questions (I think) Accounting - Acquisition (6 Questions), Pension (6 Questions), Translation (6 Questions), Earnings Quality (6 Questions) = 24 Questions Equity Valuation - H-Model?, FCFE Set (6 Questions), (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) = 24 Questions Derivatives - Currency Swap (6 Questions), Commodities Set (6 Questions) = 12 Questions Portfolio Management - Factor Surprise set (6 Questions) = 6 Questions?? - I think the factor model question is the same one as the factor surprise set I mentioned.”
Don’t waste your time trying to guess what will or won’t be on the test based on what was on the test last year or what is on the mock exam, it is pretty much random. If you end up guessing right it will be pure luck, so just try to know as much as you can with focus on the major sections.
Sweet - thanks for this. I took l2 last year and don’t remember much except being like “wtf was that” for the morning section, which was more theoretical (I think?), while the afternoon was more equation oriented. I was also arrogant and thought I passed and wouldn’t need to remember! There is a new equity section this year. I imagine they will test it, since they tested both Private Equity and accruals last year which were both new.
The tax stuff in portfolio management that they removed this year was also new last year, but they didn’t test that. So you never really know, but considering it is the only new section this year it is probably likely to see at least a couple questions on it.
what surprises me is porter!! cfai doesnt even have a single question on this!though schweser has some!!!
You didn’t hear this from me, but… expect at least 3 item sets devoted entirely to the Ibbotson-Chen model. I kid, I kid 
so what are the new topics this year?
I expect everything to be on the exam.
The only truly new section this year is private company valuation, though there are various small changes to existing sections.
They tested Research Objectivity Standards last yr. Prob gonna test foreign currency translation. Who knows if they’ll test Real estate. Could do a multiple stage financing question. Like someone else said, I wouldn’t waste time trying to game this test. Put your efforts elsewhere. Unfortunately, there is no pattern
