It would be great to see some realistic opposition to Trump and the Republicans in general. A balanced system will help the most people. However, Democrats are failing in every way. They have a loser leadership with no direction, and only a record of embarrassing defeat. Yet, they refuse to fire the old croons and geezers at the top. They refuse to acknowledge the young peoples’ concerns, driving these voters to splinter into a radical leftist wing.
They don’t even have a unified theme for the upcoming elections, other than “not Trump the Nazi” or “meToo”, which either make them seem even more like just whiny losers or is something that people claim to care about but really don’t. (To be fair, Trump has claimed a lot of traditional Democratic themes, especially protectionism as his own, which does put the opposition in a tough spot).
Democrats are turning what should be the easiest political win into another blunder. How can anyone say that they are doing a good job. It really is Sad!
The ‘republicans’ came back by nominating the 2 party system destroyer. establishment republicans aren’t fighting it because they know they are also finished. they got lucky though and are able to bow out without much attention. the list of those resigning or not seeking re-election is pretty staggering. that was their best option, believe me.
Yes, GOP basically got destroyed when their own voters chose Trump over all their internal candidates. No one can say that Trump represents the Republican old platform. I would have vomited in disgust if another Bush was elected President. Either Democrats wipe the slate clean somehow, or (most likely) just self implode because they are more interested in entrenching their old parasitic leaders than changing their party.
I find this odd, because at the federal level, with massive societies like US and CN, it can never be any other way than authoritarianism (Corporatism, Maoism, whatever). There’s simply no other way be organize hundreds of millions of people without top-down authoritarianism. The US just talks about “bla bla liberties” a lot, because those liberties are gone.
In small countries where we don’t have top-down authoritarianism, we don’t talk about liberties.
I think I understand what you are saying (that regions have autonomy, and federal gov only needs to manage them, not individuals).
But in reality top-down control doesn’t stop there. American Corporatism uses gov propaganda, federal laws, federally-funded universities, and a nationally networked corporate media oligopoly, to reach down into the very family unit, and socially engineer everyone to the form which the state sees as moving society “forward.” Same with Maoist China, Modern China, Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany, Modern Germany, etc. It’s tight top-down control, yes control of government/institutional tiers underneath, but also down to the individual tribal units. And as economic times get worse (now) the tyranny increases.
If it were not so, these mega societies wouldn’t achieve the size (and economic results) they do. They can’t have autonomous regions just doing what they want…the state falls apart! And to prevent autonomous regions, you brainwash everyone bottom-up (what propaganda accomplishes).

The first use of the #walkaway hashtag from accounts monitored on Hamilton 68 was noted in early June (a few weeks after the grassroots campaign began), but engagement remained relatively low throughout the month. Activity spiked on July 2, when Hamilton 68 noted 73 unique tweets using #walkaway, and roughly another 50 using related campaign hashtags (e.g. #walkawaymovement). The late engagement suggests Kremlin-oriented accounts are trailers rather than leaders of the campaign, but the high-level of current engagement indicates an effort to astroturf support for the movement and hijack the narrative. This includes several monitored accounts that have changed their handles to include the hashtag, or that have shared their own supposed walkaway moments. The campaign also received a direct boost from Russian propaganda outlets RT and Sputnik, both of which ran stories on the movement.
