Trump announces he'll go for reelection

Whatever.

I second Sam. Challa, your post is silly. The AI issue seems like it would be tiny if anything. Second, I honestly can’t make sense of your second paragraph because it is so poorly written.

dividends are terrible as they are taxed heavily but if you can no longer generate good returns, it’s prolly a better choice.

share buybacks are a better choice than dividends for the most part, it’s better when prices are lower but it’s a cheaper way to reward your investors. But both destroy share price imo. Shareholders should sell as companies buyback so you maintain your percentage of ownership.

Acquisitions may be a better option if stuff is cheap or you can acquire something that you can scale up and create value. But odds are they will always destroy value because they will be expensive.

capex is the best way to use money but only if your roi is higher than the market.

wage increase is for the employees that add value. The others just need the market rate. No point in giving a raise if they have no alternatives. The new Corp tax cuts will give new profits and cos will prolly share 10 percent with employees. The old adage boss gets a dollar I get a time is why I poop on company time. Is the official rule I use

Bwahaha!

These divisive opportunist self-important rude a-holes, geez normal people don’t want to listen to this stupidity anymore.

The AI issue is critical, it doesn’t seem like a big issue because you are white. If these algos and all their beneficial uses like cancer detection etc are performing well only on white faces then the next phase of evolution serves only the privileged few

This barely touches the surface

The second paragraph was perfect, perhaps you need to read it again but it was geared more towards certain people trying to act edgy in a pathetic attempt to ‘fit in’

Honestly I think someone will split the ticket if Trump has a chance of winning. I’m not saying it’s a sure thing but I think it’s underpriced by political commentaries. More likely than impeachment imo

Say whatever you want, my understanding is you just read about some “algos” somewhere and clearly don’t know much about what you are talking about. If an unsupervised/race agnostic model somehow concludes that whatever race is more prone to violence then it may be safe to assume that they are more prone to violence based on the metrics used by that “algo”.

Also my point was not about police or any law enforcement agency using those “algos” to discriminate against any potential suspects or whatnot, it was about self-driving cars and some idiot thinking people are gonna hard code “run over the minority” whenever there is the decision to either run over a white person or a minority.

All that being said you are the racist mofo here, not me.You are simply stating that due to my "third world immigrant to the U.S "status I cannot state my opinion freely because it doesn’t align with your stupid belief or it may be the case that I’m trying to fit in.So everyone who is not of European descent should always be lefter than left or else they are trying to fit in with the supreme whites.

P.s don’t use the term “Algo” it makes you look you’re trying to make something look sophisticated while at the same time you don’t know $hit about it.

As much of a Progressive I am…I am in for a smaller government…HOWEVER, I do believe that our medical and healthcare system should be of public issue - I would vote for Affordable Care Act every single time. We have “socialistic” utilities, drinking water, sewage, electricity, Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act signed by Bush to pay for all drugs for our elders, Social Security, and Medicare…Because we have each other, the poor, the ugly, the pretty, the rich…we have money to spend and for some lucky folks money to burn…It is this “society” that makes everything go around and possible…SO I believe as a society we need to take care of another when one is sick but cannot afford proper care…because we are not savages, we are not in the medieval era where watching people get hung or watching a cat tied upside down get burned alive is equivalent to Friday night movie nights…we are in 2018…

As for guns, I don’t agree with either side…NRA and the right winger republikkans are crazy in thinking that a democratic president will take away our guns…No, that will never happen…Maybe make it harder to buy 30 round magazines or automatic rifles…Funny sh*t is many of these right wingers say oh AR15 AR15 the greatest blah blah not knowing its history and the fact that AR in AR15 does not stand for assault rifle…I think we should hire armed guards or police officers to patrol the school during all school hours…I am willing to pay my small share of my income as a law abiding citizen of this country…and for the greater good of this country and safety of our kids and neighborhoods…BUT arming the teachers in classrooms?? Come on…

Just my take on two issues…I hope Trump for the sake of my country, make the right decisions and put away his personal ego, and other racist agenda or other business deals aside…for ONCE in his life make it for America not for HIM.

big/small govt. i will always vote small. and though i feel that everyone should have equal opportunities in terms of life and education. the reality is that we are at a budget deficit set for a trillion/year starting in 2018. so government needs to actually get a lot smaller or we need to start taxing people a lot more before any more benefits should be allocated to the disenfranchised. this is not the problem for future generations.

gun issue. dont care how it goes. i dont own a gun. it never affected me or people very dear to me. plus it is rare enough to ignore, sure its tragic, but there are far more worse shit than this that isnt reported that happens way more often. also i actually find it kind of interesting that it takes these psycho school shootings with no motive to trigger people to care more about gun control. if it was say a gangbanger highschooler in an urban city to shoot another highschooler, people wouldnt throw much of a fit. it’d be business as usual.

trump sucks. i feel he is making america worse. we look like fools/racists to teh outside world. he has increased the deficit even more so. plus there’s just more controversy and conflicts of interest with everything he does.

the whole “what would the car do if it had to choose?” debate is irrelevant. it is all that everyone focuses on when it comes to self-driving but self-driving will not exist if cars have to face this dilemma on a regular basis. what is more likely is that human-driving cars will be outlawed at some point because human error will be the reason for any self-driving car having to face this dilemma after which self-driving cars will not face this dilemma ever again, effectively. it’ll basically be, if you create danger for the self-driving car and its riders by breaking the law and creating an unexpected scenario, you will be the one who dies, irrespective of age, race, sex, etc.

Ditto especially the last paragraph

Uncertain why you put the word “algos” in quotes when that is exactly what they are. All these techniques starting from basic clustering which is used for image recognition to neural networks which is used for decision making are techniques derived from linear algebra that have gained mainstream traction because of the increase in computing power. The methods that say google brain is using for self-learning is a different beast but that is not what is in question here.

The point is that these “unsupervised” modes are not race agnostic if their training set is skewed towards a particular set which it is. Go to google type hands and chances are you’ll see white hands exclusively. This is the very definition of a biased model.

furthermore the car example is extreme but it still raises the question. If the car has to make a decision to say go on the sidewalk to avoid greater damage and minimize losses what is it going to do when it sees an Iranian face that it has never processed before and the rest of the faces it recognizes are white. Will it just chose that face as the most expendable solution because the model is geared that way or…?

no one cares if you’re a third world immigrant , the third world immigrants who try too hard are fcking hilarious though. Let me guess you also moan about how those blacks aren’t working hard enough, best way to fit into mainstream America before : hate the blacks, now slam the ‘liberals’ without knowing jack

Ah yes because 3rd world immigrants couldn’t possibly develop opinions of their own unless those fit into your narrative.

you live in N Dakota? Come to NYC and say that out loud and see how far you go before you meet a district attorney who is from Third World - Tibet - in charge of illegal interstate firearms trade or Third World immigrant - Chinese - senator representing Flushing, NY or hundreds of other big shots in finance walking about their business from Third World - African, Asian, Eastern European.

Way to generalize…obviously you have not been enlightened although it happened in the 1700s and never have ventured out to the real world with diversity, money, power and influence. But then again if you do live in the Dakotas, I understand where you’re coming from.

This Bloomberg article spinning it as there’s so much free money they can do buybacks + capex.

Record Pace of Buybacks Leaves Room for U.S. Capex Boom, Too

Well what they’re referring to are the repatriated cash which is separate from the stimulus tax cut cash. By order of use according to magnitude it still shakes out to be 1) CAPEX 2) Debt Paydown 3) M&A

The reasoning is purely economics. Many companies aren’t viewing their stock as particularly cheap right now, there’s a lot of CAPEX out there to be done both due to underinvestment and recent economic growth and the full CAPEX expensing against tax in year one through 2021 as well as the lower tax rate both make the IRR on projects higher.

That said, the recent uncertainty introduced regarding global trade and the resulting drop in equity values may have altered the thinking just in the last two weeks. I think most management teams are going to put any final “go” decisions on hold until they have more visibility and certainty regarding the trade environment going forward with greater repurchases being the fallback. Key things they are going to be looking at are 1) conclusion of NAFTA, 2) the European response and how Trump handles it and 3) if this newly surfaced investment reciprocity with China occurs and how they respond. I think the Chinese are ok letting 232 slide, but unclear about how they’ll hand a second action.
