What is going on with the women’s rights movement? I ask because i got berated last night by my gf about my sexist comments (something i do on the norm but only in good humour). Was there a meeting?

What kind of benefit do you provide your constituents when right off the bat, you impose restrictions that will most likely yield suboptimal outcomes? What’s the science behind a 50-50 ratio anyways? Why not 60-40 or 75-25? The optimal outcome is one where appointments are simply based on merit and demonstrated competence. And ultimately all of this stems from interest.
Seven out of the last eight Canadian Heritage Ministers were women. Where’s the outrage? Why nobody comes out and says : “hey you know what, this is unfair, it’s time we have a dude in there”. This is the department that covers arts, media and culture. Could it be that more women are attracted to some of these fields in college, and then turn out to have careers, some of which very successful, to the point of being appointment-worthy? It’s basic statistics and probability.
As far as I know, at least in western society, no woman is banned from pursuing studies in engineering or computer programming, quite the opposite. Yet when you walk into any given engineering faculty, they’re harder to find. So when you see that only 1 in the last 10 Ministers of Transportation was a woman, why should there be an outrage? Why is it wrong? It doesn’t mean that there cannot be a capable woman holding the Cabinet, it just means that the odds are smaller. And people interpret what is really the result of the statistics involved, as being the result of discrimination. So by that logic, one shall assume that the MLB is racist against Russians because there are no Russian baseball players.
Of course we won’t dismiss the fact that discrimination still exists and needs to be eradicated but people sometimes overstate the degree to which it relates to certain situations of under or overrepresentation. Action is then taken to correct a fabricated issue, and sometimes costly mistakes are made. That is what Trudeau is up to. That and a couple selfies with terrorists (Google it).

appointing 50% female cabinet member is old news, but its actually reverse sexism in the sense that the pool of cabinet members that he could draw from the fill the cabinets is 2/3 males. If he wanted gender equality, it should actually be 1/3 female cabinet. Male MPs should be more than slighted. Women should also be offended as per Geo’s point.
Justin is as big of a hypocrite as they come. He tells everyone about how he supports women’s rights and same-sex couples, but at the same time, goes to mosques and supports a religion that places women as second class citizens and would kill homosexuals without a second thought.
Let’s not get into the the amount of debt he is running up… he got in on a protest vote (against Harper) and I know plenty of people who regret voting for him and the Liberals.
