When to start studying and where to take CFA

I can actually take Bromion’s comments seriously and start studying only in October as I’m familiar with most of the areas tested in the CFA Program. (I have a double degree in Finance and Accounting back in college plus my recent designations and experience with hedge funds) Ethical and Professional Standards (studied this for my CAIA) Corporate Finance (college) Economics (college) Financial Reporting and Analysis (CPA) Quantitative Methods (FRM, CAIA) Alternative Investments (CAIA,FRM) Derivatives (FRM, CAIA) Equity Investments (CPA, FRM, CAIA) Fixed Income (CPA, FRM, CAIA) Portfolio Management and Wealth Planning But just to be sure, I will probably start studying in late August. As to why I’m collecting designations- my company is paying for all of my exams with a cap of 4,000USD annualy. And while I’m still on my 20’s I want to finish my CFA (hopefully the last exam I’ll be taking but who knows) cause for sure when I will settle down I will have no time to study ( have friends who are married and have children and they just can’t study anymore). My current job pays me well, but I want to transfer to the operations side (trading and portfolio management) when there is a chance. And lastly- I might even take the exam in Hongkong (i love HK- have friends and relatives there), but for now my decision is Miami… thanks for all the responses guys (whether it’s sincere or sarcastic).

are u from HK and moved to the US? US$4,000 of exam support PER YEAR is a lot, especially in this economy. You can do a lot of designations. You must be working in a big firm that is still generous nowadays. A lot of pay all sorts of exams with their own money, either with or without jobs. The entire CFA L1 to L3 exams cost under $2,500. Even the actuarial exam series (the designation which requires the most number of exams, comparing to all other designations system), all 10-12 exams cost about $8,000 in total.

nope. my great grandparents were originally from China… you could say that I have some Chinese blood. i think I’m lucky enough to have such benefit…
