What’s the financial job market like in Rio, Sao Paulo, etc? I’ve always been interested in living/working there for a few years.
Sao Paulo is a major market for finance…most of the banks likes Credit Suisse, Citibank, JP, Morgan etc…are there…Rio has also some Investment banks like UBS and many commercial banks…Rio is also a place where pivate equity companies and asset managment firms are…Wherever you are, is almost impossible avoid round trip between the two cities…I’m ate Rio, in advisory services companies for valuation and M&A…see u
…true Brazil is not a “Banana Republic” anymore as many people think. After college I worked in NYC as a stockbroker, and decided to come back to São Paulo because the market here is very hot - Brazil has evolved to new levels of development - and is booming in the folowing sectors financial markets, construction, industrial, and sugar and ethanol (my sector) among others. Brazil has received the investment grade from S&P and Fitch, the REAL is strong… Anyways, I could go on forever.
That’s true…we’ve never been a banana republic…our last 10 years was a period of economy recovery and now we star to see the results…People here are studing a lot, being prepared…2007 was a good financial year and many multimilionary was created…and now the enviroment issues are on the daily agenda and Brazil has a state of art on this subject…ethanol, biodiesel are strong issues and we have a lot of foreigners looking at it…see u
Any advice regarding what steps to take if someone was interested in obtaining a job down there? Start at a firm here first then try to transfer? I would think there is a limited language barrier if at all…
