Why are there so few girls taking the CFA exams?

I don’t know, but this article has some interesting facts in it. Well, two anyway. First off, the number of male RNs has gone from 2.7% in 1970 to 9.6% in 2013. And, female nurses make 91 cents for every dollar a male nurse makes.

We may be the minority, but we’re still winning the wage war!

The wage discrepancy should be expected, given that male nurses must face occupational hazzards such as subduing an enraged Jean Claude Van Damme.

Another hacksaw stat. Anually. At least the stat could be adjusted for hours worked, shift type, location and position. People believe this shit as fact. Male Southwest airline pilots make more than female Southwest pilots and it’s strictly seniority based. Why you ask? Because the men work more f_cking hours and retire later which means they have higher seniority on average.

You misogynistic little shit.

I wonder what the pass rate for male vs female is.

I want to see some stats on how many more men are out of the closet from 1970 and 2013.

They seem to be reproducing.

Women know that if they hang with me, I can show them a much better time than the CFA. Given that, it’s no big surprise that there aren’t many girls taking the CFA exams…at least if they know what’s good for 'em

I was the only female in my prep course.

One of the few non-immigrant women in my finc program in UG.

First female to be hired at the (albeit small) WM firm I worked at.

I’m puzzled too. I don’t mind being a bro, but I felt left out at times. And it was pretty hilarious that all these bros expected me to be bffs with the HR staff. Because, you know, girls should stick together?

But they do… at least in my office, the chicks make friends with girls who aren’t in their department and have nothing to do with each other.

You’re in a limbo state pretty much. Wrong parts to be a bro but also not girly enough to be part of the office gossip troupe.

Well, the alternative would be to seem snooty and aloof, and god knows you don’t want the “gossip troupe” to think badly of you… Let’s just say I learnt that the hard way.

Well just make sure you have more powerful allies than powerful enemies.

It’s a never ending dance of “correct behavior”

Do what you think is right ladies without thinking what the whole world is thinking about you

But I am thinking about them. All the time

Yeah, gotta tread lightly. You don’t want to be just “one of the guys.”

^ emichan, is dat you?

Why are there so many threads about women in CFA/finance?

I took a weekly review class for each level. In the level one class, there were about 120 people and 15 or 20 of them were women. Probably about 60 people in the level two class with 5 or 10 women. We had about 20 to 30 people in the level three class with one woman who showed up for the first two weeks then I never saw her again.

It seems like the women go with accounting instead of finance. I think they like the structure of the rules accounting provides as opposed to finance with is more theory-based. I’m married to an accountant who’s dabbled a little in the world of finance and the finance side of things drives her nuts.

Probably because there are a ton of guys trying to figure out why having lots of money isn’t actually as effective at landing a quality woman as they thought it would be.

Their conclusion is usually “there must be something wrong with these women. I have money, why don’t they like me?”

Admittedly, a lot of women can be just as shallow.
