Wish Mitt was Prez

I think UAW has said they are not willing to gove more concessions, which I think is subtlely different than “rejected any and all re-negotiations of contracts”. On the one hand, it might be more militant because it means that they might walk out on some govt bailout conditional on labor concessions. But it also might mean that they are willing to change contract terms so that the automakers can remain liquid but labor gets something different. For example, I would be offering up stock incentives all over the place to labor in exchange for pay reductions. They could essentially play the loyalty card to get employees to buy stock with their paychecks.

Ok, well, you can divine whatever that means. They said they aren’t giving any more concessions–it is what it is.
