Actually speaking Messi was the best player, we just hold him to ridiculous standards now.
Won the game for them against Bosnia, turned up with a winner in the dying minutes against Iran, scored 2 incredible goals against Nigeria and provided the moment to take them past Belgium in extra time.
He turned it up a notch in the final too and if his supporting cast had turned up I suspect they could’ve won it. Special shout out to the way he took the defeat too, the disappointment was etched on his face but no crying like that baby Federer and no childish tantrums like Ronaldo. Dude is made of tungsten.
