Maybe the dedication to the club team is higher, because (according to Nick Hornby) it´s the club that chooses you and not you to choose your favourite team.
Bremen, are you a native german?
This reminds me of the popular Liverpool FC refrain :
“We are not English, we are Scouse”.
I always struggle with the club over country debate so it’s interesting to hear that it’s not just a uk thing.
I can see messi player deeper when he loses a yard or 2 of pace maybe further into his 30’s, he’s just too much of an intelligent player not to adapt. At 31 he’ll still be in his peak as he looks after himself
Anyone else think Messi didn’t deserve the Golden Ball? Maradona thinks not, says it was all marketing on Adidas part. Messi was great and all, but kind of disappeared in knockout stages. He was really well defended by opposition, especially against Germany.
I really thought Muller or James Rod, would win it… Thoughts?

Sure thing, why do you ask? Am I not fulfilling the stereotypes?
^What German thinks England will win? oO
So the question everyone’s being avoiding…Maradona or Messi?
The cocaine snorting, supermodel banging fat dude who inspired lowly Napoli to the Italian championship before leading an unfancied Argentine side to the top before leaving in disgrace?
Or the quiet, unassuming, shy guy who’se stats and medal count dwarf every other player out there ?

Exactly.
Anyways, I have been following Die Mannschaft for over 10 years now… no link, just some affinity. Hope you enjoyed the win.
I dislike fanatical Messi fanboys who idolize him as one of the top 3 all-time greatest players, just cause they can see him now live on tv. Messi vs Maradona? He’s got still a long way to go before he ranks up there with Maradona, Cruyff, Platini. How about Messi vs. Zidane? Messi vs. Van Basten? Messi vs. Ronaldo?
Messi is the greatest player that has ever lived, sit down and watch pele and maradona highlights on YouTube and consider how slow it is and how bad and disorganised the defending is. The game has changed
No he doesn’t have a long way to go. Messi is better than Cryuff and Platini, and IMO on the same level as Maradona, Pele, and Di Stefano. Messi vs Zidane is no contest, Messi is a far more dangerous player than Zidane could hope of being. This is just systematic overrating of older generation players.
Messi for life but I love me some Di Maria

My boy Diego. He did it with flash.
If you watch Messi live, and compare him to “youtube highlights” of old-timers, you are getting a very very inaccurate comparison. These are idiotic comparisons across time anyway, because even if “the game has changed”, you have to conider how dominant a player is in relation to his contemporaries. Technology has also changed tremendously and amplifies your perception of how fast and coordinated present-day players are, more than you think.
If the general level of play is higher today, naturally players will be closer together in skill, which means that the best players will look less impressive today, making comparisons relative to your own era meaningless. Gerd Muller would never replicate his goalscoring feats today.
ronaldo is top 3 all time…dude changed the game
