I so rarely go anywhere that warrants the expense of a Friday - Saturday night hotel stay. My husband used to come with me if the location was good, but now that we have a 10 month old, it’s not worth the hassle. And he’d not be psyched if I just up and left him for a weekend alone in some random location 
At my first job, I was in the NJ Meadowlands every week. That sucked big time. You just want to go home and take a shower after being there. And, having spent a ton of time in NYC, venturing over there at the end of the week didn’t hold much appeal.
