Does Hillary have a chance?

Since we know Gen. Mattis doesn’t stand a chance, will Hillary be able to pull enough of the youth vote to get to the White House?

Edit - people seem to not be clicking on the above link. You have to see it to believe it. (Yes, it’s SFW, but possibly NSFL.)

The data I see suggests that she’s the most likely winner. Bernie has impressive momentum, but Hillary still has the lead plus (most likely) the loyalty of party operatives (i.e. superdelegates).

Both Hillary and Sanders beat Trump and Cruz in polls. Sanders by a wider margin, but Hillary still does it.

It is possible that the distribution of those votes is such that the Electoral College goes to Republicans. I haven’t dug into the data enough to know, so I am assuming that the Electoral College will decide the same way as the popular vote, which is what happens about 95% of the time. I’m also assuming that the polls I see reported are representative, which is perhaps a more dubious assumption.

On the other hand, Trump might just buy off the Electoral College, which is one of those out-of-the-box scenarios that I’m not considering strongly.

Hillary is a moderate/conservative Democrat and designed to win general elections. The primaries are where she’s vulnerable as she’s neither very liberal nor very likable, which is why she got blown up by an unknown in 2008.

This time she’s sucked the oxygen out of the primary so that that only challenger is a crazy socialist. Once she gets over this hurdle, I bet she’ll be very comfortable. She’ll struggle to win youth votes but she can count on black and hispanics. I bet even a decent number of Republicans would prefer her over Cruz or Trump.

bernie’s momentum looks very promising indeed! I don’t see trump as the exepcted winner in any of the general election polls http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/elections/

The whole Bernie thing (“feel the Bern”) is getting really annoying. I have a few friends that are extremely devout Bernie fans and blowing up my FB feed with a bunch of nonsense. IMO, it really is just as bad as some of the Trump fans though I honestly can’t say I know a single one in my circles). Very very vocal supporters, very very few objective thinkers…

I don’t really get too excited about Hillary, but I think she is the most sensible choice.

yeah, we seem to have a phenomenon in America for people that spend 10% of their time researching who they support and 90% of the time vocalizing their support for someone they know skin deep. It is very odd to me.

Why is that odd? I personally know little or nothing about the candidates I vote for. I just vote for who I like. I bet many are like this.

^and it’s not a recent thing. Always been this way

^isnt this why there is an electoral college in the US?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Dems have as deep internal strifes a decade from now as the GOP is having today. Someone else will take the torch from Bernie Sanders and will attempt to appeal to the far left. The mouvement will not die after this election cycle.

TBH if the republican & democratic parties both fracture it might be nice giving people a choice of 4 instead of 2. I would certainly consider a libertarian candidate over a conservative candidate as I cant vote for a candidate with social conservative values personally. More choices would benefit us all

Yes, citizens must attend the electoral college before being allowed to vote. That’s why the US has the most informed voters of any country.

I read that the student services building is being expanded. And a lazy river is in the works…

Geat synopsis of the situation, Palantir

Does she turn you on? I’m thinking that t-shirt is hiding something. Thoughts?

20-year-old has the answer to all politics issues. Seems legit.

What? You don’t think she’s the next Joan of Arc?

Emotionally charged words (e.g. nazis, traitor, diarrhea…) with vague references to controversial events (e.g. Benghazi, Whitewater, etc.) is always a sound basis for understanding politics. Way to go!
