I have an Infiniti G37S coupe. I used to have a 2006 BMW 330i sedan. Since you are worried about expenses, get a Japanese car. I know the BMW fanboys will flog me but my bimmer had a lot of maintenance issues. It was a good ride when it worked, but the problem was it was in the shop all the time. My G37, over the same ownership period, has had NO issues. I’ve just had regular oil changes and that’s it. Another plus of the G37 is the price. For a similarly priced G37S (about 40k), you would have to settle for a 328i. G37 - 330 hp, better electronics, 19" rims if you get the sport 328i has something like 220hp? It’s significantly lower. If you were to get a comparable BMW in terms of performance, the 335i would run you about 50k. Otherwise, I think you are going in the right direction with the 370z as well.

Yea, 328i’s are dogs. I have a buddy with a 328i coupe and I lol-face him all day long. That’s why 135i’s are relatively good deals. Seems like everyone has trouble with BMW’s though (self-admitted fan boy here). Wonder what the main. record is on the Z4 MC

Most people probably don’t need 300 hp. If you’re just looking for a car with good power and great handling for daily driving, I don’t see what’s wrong with a 328i. I do agree that an Infiniti or even Audi is a better deal though. Anyway, on the topic of BMW reliability, most German brands give you pretty good free maintenance plans. I think BMW’s is 4-years/50k miles. Of course, there is the issue of inconvenience from having to bring your car to the shop all the time.

Whoooa i didnt see that he was indeed looking to spend 50-60k! Seriously CTS-V with 556hp. This guy came to the internet to get our opinion on a sweet ride. So imagine this, you are pulling into your Casino, Bar, Restaurant, Theater of choice. You dont want something everybody gets because thats boring and average. But you need to be low key and not to flashy while still saying i kick ass What car would you want to be in? Black on Black on Black http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2010-Cadilla-CTS-V-only-2k-miles-/260663917264?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cb0c7bad0#ht_5424wt_1165 or Red http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/09-CTS-V-19K-MILES-NO-RESERVE-NAV-PANO-ROOF-LOADED-/320592030718?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4aa4c62bfe#ht_7060wt_1165 AND check out the roof on that red one!! Sweet option Id want the black but thats me. also If your paying that much for a fast car you should be able to win some races, which it can.

I can tell you what not to get. A Mazda RX-8. I just recently sold my 2004 RX-8 due to the ridiculous number of problems I had with it. Also, because it has the rotary engine some mechanics wouldn’t even work on it. I think the G37 coupe sport is the best sports car for the money. If I had more cash that’s what I would get. It’s classy, yet understated, and drives like a dream. Very reasonably priced compared to BMWs of an equivalent nature (see 335i).

do yourself a favor and get an am treeeeee

jcole21 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not salary 50-60k, car price. Yeah I meant car prices. He was making like 30K tops and actually didn’t touch a dime from his salary. Car and other perks came from family money. The guy had a “regular job” because his family has an interesting policy to prevent entitled juniors to throw its NW in coke and babes all day: nobody in the family can have a meaningful role in their companies/investments before having 3-4 years of work experience in a top finance/consulting firm, and an MBA from the US (top ten), UK (three schools), or Switzerland (IMD only).

I doubt I would ever spend $60K on a car, at least not any time soon – it’s doable, but for what purpose? The opportunity cost of that kind of money in the stock market seems too high relative to a depreciating asset such as a car, although I doubt I would invest the money these days (market’s looking pretty efficient to me). That is a sick car though. I’ve saved most of the money I’ve made since college, and have been driving my '95 Subaru since then, but it is starting to get pretty beat up and I don’t want to dump a lot of money into it, hence time to move on. I think Asset’s suggestion of the 2011 5.0 Mustang is likely going to be it. Black or sterling grey? Thoughts? http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/ What would be the best way to try to get a deal on a new car? Offer to buy the test drive model from the dealership (save a few grand for a basically new car)?

www.truecar.com is a helpful tool if you’re buying your car new.

I didnt think you were from your original post. its a boat load of money for a toy just saw this the other day and they had nice things to say. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1010_2011_2011_ford_mustang_gt_vs_2011_bmw_m3_comparison/index.html

If you’re looking at Mustangs, it might be worth searching for used 2010 models on Autotrader or Yahoo Autos. They depreciate a lot in the first couple of years, so you might be able to find some good deals.

What about a Taurus SHO?

I drive a Mustang convertible (V6). I know people with Mustangs from the V6-Cobra. Let me just say that Stangs can take abuse! I know from experience. This car is 10 years old, pushing 125k, and I drive it year round in MN. So far only a stupid alternator problem which was $150 or so. Otherwise I’ve only had to spend money on general maintenance. Let us know what you get, and post pictures!
