wellness thread

these diets are all gimmicks if you ask me. I think ive gained maybe 5 lbs since college and that comes with eating sensibly and exercising regularly.

I’ve been on a banana diet for the last couple of weeks where I just eat 30 or so bananas a day. It gives me the strength of a chimpanzee.

You’re exactly right. The way to lose weight and/or maintain a healthy weight is to know how many calories your body burns on an average day. Keep track of your calorie intake, subtract calories burned from cardio, and keep you net calorie intake below your daily calories needed to maintain weight and you’ll see the lbs drop right off.

+1

I bet it keeps you super regular.

Naps, sex, cold showers, liters of water throughout the day, walking everywhere.

+1 to cold showers, keeps my skin looking like a baby’s buttocks. what other skin routines you fools got.

I do the following:

-exercise in the morning, it opens the pores up, followed by that nasty cold shower to close the pores back up.

-eat alot of fresh fruit and vegetables(I found that kiwi and apples are the best, also green leafy vegetables)

-water and green tea throughout the day, minimal coffee

-shave with safety razor every night before bed

-kiels ultra facial moisturizer followed by a SPF 15 lotion

  • facial clay mask once a week

^^ Oh yes. Sunscreen, religiously.

I prefer to eat vegetables and roughage indirectly.

That is, cows and pigs eat vegetables. Therefore, if I eat the cows and pigs, then I’m eating the vegetables indirectly, and don’t have to waste time and energy also eating the other stuff.

Why is “no fap” considered healthy? Seems like doing so would lead to a build-up of frustration, assuming you don’t have anyone else to help you release that frustration.

I feel like if you are calling it “fapping” you don’t have anyone else to help you on that front.

Can never tell when the Bateman starts in these threads…I’m thinking right here.

Geez, I probably gained 40-50 pounds in college and then another 25-35 or so on top of that since.

Fuark bro, we were separated at birth. (no homo… ok, semi homo)

I used to do the cold showers, there’s a TEDx talk on these. It was painful though. But I shave at night, rock Kiehls, and use this indian clay mask stuff I got on Amazon like once/month (no Bateman)

unfortuneately, I don’t. I’m married.

I’m on week 4 of a (weightlifting) linear progression similar to Stronglifts 5x5. Trying to stick it out despite a rough travel schedule for work and little kids at home. Where does the time go?

Also trying to read more, I just started Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. It’s on a lot of recommended reading lists from smart people and seems pretty good so far. I feel like I should have read this one years ago.

People who call it fapping probably have an unhealthy relationship with masturbation, in terms of frequency and reaction to stimulus. It makes it harder for fappers to form good intimate relationships and may straight up mess up their sexual function/performance with a real woman. It’s actually a serious issue that’s risen with the high level accessibility of porn since the early 2000s.

^Basically, it’s not natural for your brain to be exposed to that much sexual stimuli. Your ancestors would’ve seen a handful of naked women in their lives, you see more than that in 2 minutes of fapping. Then your brain needs more and more porn to get the same level of stimulation. Plus porn doesn’t set real expectations for sex in relationships. Also, when you watch porn, you’re identifying with the chick… there’s nothing really sexual about watching another dude pound a chick. Would you want to watch your buddy smash his gf and fap to it?

^ There’s a difference between watching porn and fapping. You know not everyone faps to porn.

^I think when you use ‘fap’ you are specifying the type of person who usually masturbates to internet porn.

So I just got a new job after 6 month of studying/working part time (waiting tables, good income though). My lifestyle has changed so much, and even though I’m on my ass all day I have no energy and I’ve suddenly gained 5 pounds which is a lot because I’m only 5’2.

I gained a lot of weight last year, maybe 15lbs, because I was living in France, chugging cheap red wine and living off pastries (heaven). I was pretty into cycling and got on my bike again after moving back to the US, but that just made my thighs even thicker. I haven’t ridden for the last month because seriously, I have no energy. I also have a 2 hour each way commute, I’m looking for new places but it’s hard.

What at am I doing wrong? Hot showers? I can’t sacrifice that.
