[CFA Prep Diary] I’m starting a CFA prep diary for the December L1 exam!
I failed the June L1 exam and I am starting studying for the December exam. During my studies, I will keep a diary, what have I studied and what have I achieved during that period.
Haha, no, it won’t be anything like that. It’ll have a more structured approach and detailed step-by-step study explanations … don’t worry
Anyway, I have written the second part of my diary - Choosing the Study Materials
Many candidates on forums and groups claim that Schweser is the best. I trust them since Kaplan is probably the biggest educational company in the world. I am just wondering - is it abbreviated curriculum really something I need?
I think this could end up being a waste of your valuable time. You could be using that time to study for the exams instead. If you are looking for a break from studying, do something unrelated to the CFA exam like exercise, etc.
Haha, thnx Giuls21 for yout thoughts but it doesn’t take much to write this and I think it can really help others. So, no worries
This is the third part - Prep Kick-off!
September has come! It is time to start. I like this structured approach, just like I am managing a project. I am wondering does it make sense to build a project time line, but let’s see that after a few readings…
I have started economics, still left on ethics and derivatives which I target to finish by 20th October. After that i will start exam practice on full throttle.
So, I have passed the Portfolio management section, but a lot of Corporate finance stays ahead of me. At this point, I know that I have a lot to do but don’t know if I’ll make it.
I am 2 weeks behind my schedule and a little bit a panic :(. There are 3 topics I need to cover Economics, AI and Derivatives which might take me about 10 days including practicing questions ( I am on the 2nd round). Economics is really painful for me I don’t even want to think about it. Last time I worked on it was 5 months ago and it was really struggling
I am thinking of spending lunch time to study as well, starting from this week. In week days I had only 3 hours in the evenings but sometime it is not very effective when working on CFA materials after long and exhausting hours @ office. If I am done everything by the 7th of Nov, do you think 4 weeks are enough for revise, practice and mocks? Do I need to take about 15 days off work before the exam ? I am afraid they would grant me no more than 10 days
guys i have finished reading full material and re-read probability and stats as thats my weak area, now i am worried about how to revise and how to do practice exams?
@TheLakeHouse - Well, maybe taking some time off work to just concentrate on the CFA would be a smart thing to do. In my opinion, you have to endure - especially Economics (it’s not that hard).
@Waleed - From my point of view, I’m not nearly as ready to revise. But, I will try to review the materials (brief and fast reading of them) and then just practice, practice, practice!
I restarted Economics since Monday. Surprisingly my reading speed is much higher than expected. I quickly covered 6 readings and did some concept checker questions in 2 nights (just finished the 6th one a couple of mins a go) . uhm, I guess that somehow I have been getting used to studying so I found it not that hard as 5 months ago when I was back to academic materials after 5 years :). I hope to get the topic done by this Thursday and move on with practice questions on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is for outdoor activities, AI and Derivatives :). Next week, I will submit my annual leave application.
