CFAI 2013 Mock Exam Survey (SurveyMonkey)

I want a better idea of how people are doing on the CFAI 2013 mock. The discussions can be difficult to navigate. So, I created a survey…

Survey Link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TG5L29R

Note: Please only enter scores for the official CFA Institute 2013 mock exam. Score values must be between 0.00 and 60 for each session (AM and PM). I will periodically update the topic with the survey results. Cheers! -LilJD

UPDATE (30 responses thus far):

Morning Session:

Avg: 41.2 / 60

Median: 41.0 / 60

Afternoon Session:

Avg: 40.1

Median: 40.0

Combined:

Avg: 40.7 (67.8%)

Median: 41.0 (68.3%)

UPDATE?!

42 survey respondents.

AM Session: 41.3 / 60 Avg; 41.0 / 60 Median

PM Session: 39.8 / 60 Avg; 40.5 / 60 Median

Combined: 40.6 / 60 Avg; 40.8 / 60 Median (67.6% Avg; 67.9% Med)

Stats:

Min: 41.7%

Max: 79.2%

I added mine.

Just thinking out loud, but my guess is this is higher than the average of all takers. The 42 that responded (thus far) are more likely to have put more time in. Agree?

Thanks for doing this btw

Yep,

Self Selecting Bias must be at work here… From what I gather, this mock test has been very difficult (I agree), and yet the average is above the likely MPS.

i agree. And I hope so, because I’m below avg right now!

(my pleasure)

AM 41

PM 44

total 85 (71%)

I felt the 2013 was significantly harder than the 2012 mock. I know this material well…I can’t imagine the MPS being >60% if the mock is representative.

Thanks for doing this bro.

Its looking like you’re going to have to score 75% on the real exam in order to pass. I wonder if CFAI looks at this thread.

I got a 77% on the 2012 mock, and right around 70 on the 2013.

Sorry for the empty post. I meant to say that I second dailygrind’s opinion.

To me those scores are encouraging. It’s a small sample size to be sure but I would imagine people participating on this forum have an above average passing rate, and people on this forum completing the survey would have an above average forum passing rate.

Which would suggest that the mock is quite a bit harder than the actual exam. But paranoia is good, so get practicing!

Last update for tonight…

62 respondents

AM Session:

41.4 / 60 Avg; 41.0 / 60 Median

20 Min; 54 Max

PM Session:

39.5 / 60 Avg; 40.0 / 60 Median

28 Min; 51 Max

Combined:

80.9 / 120 Avg; 81.5 / 120 Median (67.42% Avg; 67.92% Median)

50 Min (41.67%); 103 Max (85.83%)

The Top 40% scored an average of 75.27%.

ugh

43 AM (easier than schweser) and 34 PM (harder than schweser)… I understand PM is harder from but I got utterly crushed @ PM

posted in the other thread as well (46 AM 44 PM)

I felt the mock exam was comparable to Schweser and didn’t notice any major difference in difficulty between morning and afternoon

I agree with this, I believe the wording of the questions is more straightforward with Schweser but the difficulty of the questions is comparable.

Agreed. Many of the questions I get wrong on Schweser are due to some word play “trick”.
