IMO, max intake comes with a light meal before a workout for energy, then a real heavy workout, then massive meal.

But, you don’t really want to exceed what you’re burning, unless you’re trying to gain weight.

I will shut down an AYCE Brazilian steakhouse. i typically go once a qtr, after a devastating leg day of course, eat 5lbs of steak and sit the lay the rest of the night on the floor with meat sweats.

You aren’t supposed to have steak after a workout. Your body needs protein quick and steak takes a long time to break down.
