Are you on schedule? What is your plan for the next 2 months? Do you feel nervous yet?
I think I’m on schedule, finished Elan’s videos once, reviewed their notes twice, did CFAI EOC twice and selective BB once. I’m spending my next wk doing an overview of everything then I will spend the next month drilling CFAI and Elan’s EOC and BB questions. I also have 4 past CFAI Mocks, 1 past Schweser Mocks, and hopefully Elan’s and CFAI Mock for this year ready for the last month (7 Mocks).
I wish there were more time as there’s just so much to know and remember but at the same time I just want to get this over with right now!
feeling good… just nervous that I need to mass memorize now…
did CFAI cirriculum, Elan cirriculum, CFAI EOC 2x, created my own study guides and i plan on doing this next week of mass memorization of writing down formulas over and over again. I also have 2010-2013 Mocks and the 2014 CFAI mock. Also plan on doing 2013 Schweser Mocks and the 2014 Elan Mock all under test-day conditions…
Anybody know what the MPS target is? Is it 65%? that would make it 78/120… or is the MPS alot lower?
I have found it difficult to log much more than 6-7 hours in a day of LEGITIMATE studying. I’m taking some vacation time in May so hopefully I can bump that up to ~8 hours/day with some serious caffeine intake.
I’m taking my first mock exam next Monday (I’m taking the day off from work). My goal on that is ~65%. I will be upset if I’m in the 50s. At this point, I’ve spent most of my category specific time on Equity. I’ve taken 2 of my Schweser mocks and practiced some item sets from them sporadically and I’ve done OK on them in equity (70-75%). I want to be higher by exam day. I’ve had good results on FRA and Corp. Fin, too. I expect to bomb a couple item sets on my first mock (2 or 3 out of 6) simply b/c I haven’t covered some sections to the level of detail I’d like, but gotta start mocks at some point.
A side note, for Level I I began listening to trance music while doing practice problems and it has made studying a bit more fun. It’s upbeat (helps keep you from tiring) and uplifting without catchy pop vocals to distract you. Great studying music to help you squeeze out some modest enjoyment studying.
I have covered 2 of the 5 books and their practice questions, and I’m not stressing about it. There’s still plenty of time left if it’s managed efficiently. Besides, I find every section easier than Quantitative Methods (which is why it’s taken me 2 and a bit months for 2 books). The other sections will go much more quickly for me.
Don’t benchmark your progress against other people. Everyone has different learning styles and speeds. As long as you feel you can do it still then you can, just keep at it and plan your time carefully.
Your words really gave me hope I need. Guys I havent even finished one single book yet , I started with FSA and still have to complete M&A, so far I have only ‘read’ this book without doing any numerical. Its 80 fail / 20 pass for me but as capaldij said, everyone is different and have different style and speed.
I am going on full throttle from now and will study in coffee shop after work and will go home only when I finish my target everyday. Its extremely difficult with 12 hour job, but I’am on it. Good Luck guys
sleeping is for dead people. Yes, I work. Oftentimes, I have to work saturdays as well. I just make it a point to cover 1 chapter plus EOC questions per night on the weekdays, and I put in 5-7 hours every sunday.
I read the Schweser notes 1, and now i have done and read quants, economics, FRA, Equity, CF, AI and Im finishing Fixed Income from the CFAI and doing all the EOC. I must say now i feel Im learning, cause when I read the notes from schweser I understood the material but didnt memorize much, now with the exercises its much better. I plan to finish the EOC in 2 weeks tops and then Im doing lots of Qbank questions and mocks… Anyone: Is it better to do Qbank questions and mocks or instead re-do EOC and mocks??
will finish my first read through of the shweser materials tomorrow. that gives me 1.5 months to read through again and 1 month for Qbank and mocks and memorizing formulas.
Ya’ll insane, no way I would be able to retain all this info for 70 days even if I knew it now. I am intentially slowing down and saving gas for the final sprint in May.
