2015 Mock Exam CFAI Afternoon Question #27

[question removed by admin]

Answer says Fund GB1 is a market-oriented equity style, but it is so nuanced. The P/B and EPS Growth Rate aren’t low enough to be obviously characterized as “value-like” compared to the others. Dividend and P/E are up there with their competitors, but not high enough in this example for me to say “oh those are growth-oriented equity characteristics.”

Am I missing something in my analysis?

market oriented is exactly when it is ambiguous as to whether growth or value.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the couple sentences above the table in the problem give you a good hint at how to determine the style of the fund. STI is the market index. Compare STI and Fund GB1. Clearly, Fund GB1 mimics the market index, thus, it is market-oriented.
