time to get serious. in each item set there are a couple of gimme’s, a couple of questions you would know if you had a pretty good handle on the material, and 1 or 2 killers. Similar proportions with the AM format. In working through numerous past/practice exams - I am still making silly errors - getting several of the easy/moderate questions wrong for no good reason. Silly calculator errors, not reading the question, mis-reading/rushing words, etc. So here’s the deal for the next 5 days - i’m going to stop trying to learn some of the crazier formulas - eg calculating the covariance of 2 assets given a factor var-covar matrix in a 2-factor model - LOS. 23© - it’s just brutal (and it did come up in a practice exam). There are half a dozen others like it. The probability of one of them coming up is very low given the time it will take to learn them. So I’m going to concentrate on not stuffing up the easy/moderate quetions - and then wing it on the 1-2 harder ones. Aim is to get 4/6 for each item set. Eliminate silly errors on the 4 I should get right, and then take a punt on the other 1 or 2 in each set - if I get 1 of them correct, then that’s a bonus. anyway that’s the plan for the next few days. + Also: on the to-do list for today: - book restaurant for wedding anniverary (it’s the night before the exam!) - book haircut - buy calculator batteries - find back-up calculator - book dancing girls for after party…
Looks like a good strategy for the afternoon session.

mumu, yep I have a back-up calculator. I remember years ago dropping my calculator on a concrete stairwell - screen goes dead and that’s the end of it. THen in the L1 exam I saw a guy do the same thing walking up to the room - he was destroyed - crumpled up into a sobbing mass in the corner - desparately begging for anyone to lend him a spare. I offered my HP and he turned it down - he wanted a TI !!! Never saw him again - as far as I know he’s still sitting there in the corner… anyway, if i don’t crash the car on the way to the exam I will probably drop my calculator and wreck the screen - so I take 2…I don’t wanna do all this again next year…
I can’t make fun, I buy a new calculator every year to bring into the exam.
you could frame them all along side your charter! tell me you take a spare one to the exam, not leave the others at home in a draw?
I have 2 calculators. One new, and I changed the batteries on both last Friday. A backup is just good preparation, of course you can always go overboard and bring 3 or something.
yeah, last year i brought the new one and two of the old ones I redefine paranoid. I like the idea of framing them.
i take 2 HPs - one is the steel version and the other is the black anniversary one (not as good - the steel one is much easier to see the numbers). In the exams I always get funny looks from the proctologists coz they think it looks fishy with 2 different looking calculators. Lesson for life - the last thing you want is to get funny looks from proctologists…
