5 pounds in 2 weeks?

AbRipperX is awesome, it always kills me. Today is deadlift 5/3/1, farmer walks, cable pull throughs, and heavy barbell shrugs. I’ll do some sprints to warm up too.

I am starting from today and will use few workouts of P90X like Biceps, Shoulders, Chest, legs and abs etc. Plyo and yoga are tough and will skip it I will mix cardio and calorie burning by running on treadmill every other day. So 4 days of P90X and 2 days of Running and Abs in a week.

Brian - What do you think of Crossfit and Boxing classes? Thinking about joining once I have endurance and enerygy to compete this kind of tough program. Hopefully I will have some after a month of p90x and running. Crossfit is expensive (200$/month) and Boxing is $80/month. Have you ever tried it?

You can do the Crossfit WOD (workout of the day) at your own home (or gym). It’s posted online for free. I’m a big fan of boxing, it will get you into the best shape if you’re serious about it. I was always fond of Tyson, being a Brooklynite, and to see this guy’s build, power and agility in the 80’s is mind-boggling. Straight up natural boxing, no weights (boxers only use weights as therapy for an injured body part).

Personally if I had to choose between the two (and only these two) I’d probably go crossfit, just because I think I would enjoy it more. As mp2438 suggested you can just read the main crossfit page everyday to get the WOD and do it from home, that’ll save you some $$$, I find it a bit ridiculous that some places would actually charge that much… given the equipment needed and space required it’s laughable.

I haven’t heard most of those terms before.

I did russian twists for the first time in 2 months on Sunday night. Ouch.

^ nice. Russian twists remind me of the Mason twists from Ab Ripper X, pain in the ass. I did farmer’s walks for the first time yesterday…talk about a quick way to sweat. Walked for an hour with those damn dumbbells.

They charge a lot for crossfit because at most places I know of, every workout is done as a group so you get some additional comraderie/motivation. Basically, every WOD is group personal training and they provide nutritional consulting as well. I’ve actually been looking at it because I’ve heard really good things from some frineds.

So anyone here tried kickboxing/MMA? I absolutely love it…

^ I tried MMA in college a few times and I couldn’t last (energy wise) past 3 minutes. That stuff is SO draining.

Damn an hour? What were you carrying? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re-RvAXDa3Q I just grab the biggest dumbells at my gym (120’s now, it used to be 100’s) and do 20 yards down 20 yards back for time. I’ll rest 90 seconds and then go again. Four or five sets of these and I’m usually toast.

@eureka - crossfit can easily be done without going to an affiliate if you don’t want to spend the $. Try it on your own for awhile, see how it goes, and then decide if you want to join. As brianr mentioned above you can do just about everything at a normal gym or at home if you have the discipline. If you don’t have a piece of equipment called for in the WOD, improvise. Nutritional counseling - tons of info on the message boards there. Most people go paleo (if you don’t like to count) or zone (if you do).

I am not that much into ju jitsu but absolutely enjoy boxing, kickboxing and muay thai. Very draining but a great workout.

wow, 172lbs is nice. I grabbed 2 25 lbs dumbbells I have at home and went for a walk…will have to rethink this strategy and perhaps invest in those selecttech dumbbells (90lbs).

Yeah, I’m changing jobs so I’m looking for a new gym anyway. Thinking I’ll do crossfit for a couple months. Money is actually not that bad considering their is no lock up period and all the other gyms around are like 100. I know people there too, so their’s extra incentive.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDCxH88-9X8 Forget p90x. Just buy the 24 hour getto workout.

haha, I’ve seen this before. I live right next to Coney Island, sure enough you see people do this.

I have been doing AbRipperX 2 times a day and Mason Twists are kinda bad… usually pass out at 35th rep and then continue again from 40 onwards to 50.

doing it 2 times a day isn’t going to help. you’re muscles need to time to recover.
