Does it mean the same thing when people talk about “fund sponsor” and “investor”? thanks!
It can be the same, but not always. e.g. fund sponsor is the company which has a pension plan, investor would be the pension plan. The funds belong to the pension plan and the company is obligated to make payments into the pension plan.
I am not 100% sure the context here… fund sponsor is the company that is providing the pension plan for its employeers Investor is probably the asset management firm with the fidcuiary duty to the pension plan participants.
