Hi, I’m not talking level 1 until next year so I’m not going to study anything now that I need to remember, but I would like to get comfortable with TVM problems. Can anyone suggest where I can find a ton of TVM questions with answers that I can work through gradually? Thanks
For TVM I recommend you Elan Guides, but they multplied by 3 the cost of their material (ebooks) so better try an on-line resource. In example: investopedia.com Also the AnalystForum’s application (it’s made using Java) is recommended. I recommend you to read the calculator manual, has very interesting recomendations. Also start reading FRA (memorize formulas in FRA, specially ratios) and Economics, as soon as possible. But before doing TVM problems I suggest you start with Ethics.
I dunno. Is there anything more fundamental in finance than TVM (which I suppose means time value of money)? The ethics stuff is just BS made up by CFAI. If you have a job in finance or want one, you need to have TVM down completely just to do your job decently.
For finance the FRA readings are more important, TVM is something I learnt in the University (I paid more attention at the material this time, but I still remember the classes). TVM (The Time Value of Money) problems are “easy”, but it’s hard to memorize the Ethics section and understand them, don’t read this at the end. Also FRA is too hard to practice and understand, compared to other material, it is true that reading TVM before FRA helps for sure… If you’re still warming up, and want to don’t waste time First two step: ethics and tvm is easier than other parts and you can use your calculato Later: first read of economics first read of FRA Finish book I. Start to study the whole readings.
At this point (not testing till June)would it make sense to start with ethics which requires memorization? If I can get comfortable with TVM now I’ll just need to refresh a few time down the road. Ill check out Elan Guides Can you point me to the AnalystForum’s application? Thx
In my opinion you should start ethics as soon as possible, maybe is not your preferred topic. That’s why. Elan Guides is very good for the book 1 in my opinion. It doesn’t matter if you will not do the exam until June, start now reading. Will be more easier for you to retain things on your head later and also will help to understand and make cross-references while reading. The first thing that I did was reading ethics then TVM.
