Accountemps?

Anybody use them for placement? Any good stories? Applied and have a interview next week. Seems they dont interview for one position but bring ya in and see who you are and what you you can bring to the table and then find a spot for you. Not really looking for the $$ but more the experience, and because its all temp it usually lasts 9 months or so. Which i actually think is a bonus because id just like to build on some skills and move on.

Job agency always asked you to stop by to fill out their survery, but you never know if they actually send your resume to the employers or not. I guess that’s one way to build up their own resume data basis to attract potential employers to do business with them. Direct and targeted hunting is still the most effective way to look for a job.

They suck. Just my .02

Ditto Quant’s post. Even their job placement is subpar than what you would get if you were a quality candidate applying by yourself for quality positions. Edit: Good if you’re in school and need some experience to boost your resume. Otherwise, I’d just get an internship position.

It probably varies from city to city, but the Twin Cities one does indeed suck. I applied for some jr analyst position (which was probably just a teaser to get you in the door) and they’ve been calling me at least once a month to come in and apply for some $10/hr “loan processor” job. Thank god I have a job now.

Thanks for the comments guys. Thats about what i figured though, sub-par wage and crappy job. Ill still go to the interview and listen to what they have to say, if nothing else work on my interviewing skills a little bit. Ill follow up on here about what they offer me.

Try Robert Half Management Resources. As far as I recall, there are two or three tiers of job placement services, with Accountemps being at the bottom and paying the least. But even about 12 years ago, a friend of mine applied to Accountemps and was going to get $25/hour just for Excel work, $10/hour is ridiculous. Aren’t they paying that at Mickie D’s these days? Robert Half Management Resources is the middle tier of their operation. They “hire” you then rent you out as a consultant. I started out writing policies and procedures at $40/hour when I was rented out to a mortgage company by Robert Half in 2003 after losing my full time job. Within one month, this company decided they needed me for a different assignment, and due to the changed requirements of the new assignment, my pay was increased to $70/hour, with time and a half after 40 hours a week. And believe me, I did everything I could to work at least 55 hours/week.

^I agree Robert Half is much better, I’ve worked with them before

So i went to the interview. It was a joke. Started with some tests. I didn’t take any of it seriously and finished the excel test in 3 min when they gave me 35 min for 35 questions. I got 5 right. Moving along they get me in a room and just asked me about what i was looking for. The guy commented that i had a degree and an internship with financial firm and thats what their clients look for i guess. So they said they would probably try to place me in Wells Fargo investments. And would begin calling me in 10 days after the background check comes back clean. They will offer positions to me and tell me what it is and how much it pays and then i can go in if i like it and interview for the position. Should be interesting to see what kind of positions they offer me. If they arnt good or pay nothing ill just go in for more interview experience and then decline the position i think. Ill post up here what the offer are when they come through.
