I sent an initial write-up for a job doing freelance equity research. The first mock assignment was to analyze an earnings announcement (I did BAC), and they said they were impressed and asked me to do another. My area of expertise is financials. Now they want an analysis and recommendation on a ‘blue chip company’, and I’m wondering if I should stick to financials, or branch out and try to do something in another sector. Any suggestions? edit: also, they said specifically, ‘fundamental’ analysis.
i would say to branch out – in this day of age, i would prefer to be a generalist more than a specialist (tunnel-visioned into a particular sector/industry isn’t as great when you’re missing out on the big picture of things).
