AF Posts on resume?

I’ve been told in a couple of interviews that if I have 500+ posts on AF, it’s worth mentioning on my resume/in an interview, as potential employers regard this very highly. Of course, these potential employers consist of Primerica and Edward Jones, so take from that what you will. # 433!

i would pretend to be bchad if i were to mention AF on my resume. just say your screen name is bchad.

I was wondering how Daj ever got a job!

Primerica… ha ha ha… Primerica. “We’re a Citigroup subsidiary” ha ha ha Primerica.

i “interned” briefly at Primerica in college. my job was to basically cold call old ladies from a church list for my rep… yeah that lasted about 15 minutes before I told him to go screw.

I think writing down the fact that you are a Level 1 candidate might be slightly better.

^^^^ +1001 I would be ruined if people knew what I posted here, hahahahah!

I think I might be OK if colleagues discovered who I was – most of the posts I made that might be considered contentious have been removed by the moderator. Of course, what might not be OK is how many posts I’ve made on this forum. Might come across more as helping my colleagues as opposed to helping my company. But seriously, how many employees in our field have never been on one forum or another? Maybe the concept of “if everyone else is doing it, we must all be right” actually applies…

As for me I wouldn’t want to work for a company that actively searches the internet for posts by potential candidates.

I mean… what if they are spying everything you do on your comp…

I would never hire someone who posts the stuff I do on internet forums.

Yeah I can’t believe you had two interviewers ask about a 500+ post record on AF. I don’t think I’d put something like that on my resume though, not overly important and no proof that any of your posts are intellectual or thought provoking.

Wait . . . Is this entire thread for real?

Some people actually put on their resume that they write a blog. What’s the difference? I would not put on my resume that I participate in a finance forum. But, if the interviewer asks me what I do market related in my spare time, I wouldn’t mind telling him that I participate in a finance forum, among other things (read finance books, publications, sites, etc.)

Yeah I’ll definitely agree with that one, former trader.

I have enough hobbies outside of AnalystForum to be able to talk about other stuff (like music, tennis, non-profit organizations, and some other random stuff). If people are spying on my at my workplace, I guess that’s just a chance I’m willing to take. Nothing I post is really that objectionable. Not a huge deal.
