After moving to a new city...

I have no one to hang out with! Anyone has any suggestion on how/where to socialize and to start meeting new people?

Ask CvsM about the Meetup groups.

What is CvsM?

Just go to meetup.com and search for your interest groups. Hiking, theater etc… Good way to meet people.

Where are you now?

I live in Toronto now.

Never tried Meetup before…Is it possible to develop meaningul friendship via this?

Not sure. Posting with people on anonymous message board is probably more likely to lead to meaningful friendships, but meetup might be worth a shot.

I tried going to one meet up event in my area, but they looked like losers so I just left and didn’t introduce myself. oops.

I know people that did. Plus you need to start somewhere.

Try your neighborhood meetup and if you click with someone, it will be easier to schedule something off line, like drinks or brunch, if you live close to each other.

I would also recommend searching for women’s networking organizations. I met two gfs through one of those here in NY.

+1

The OP is a woman though.

Not surprised. There is an organization in my city that organizes different events for singles (rock climbing, boat racing, dancing, social games, etc) and most people that show up look like they haven’t been on a date for decades.

What you doing in a new city?

Work? Colleagues would be a good way to start no? Their friend circles will become yours and the like…

ever had a relationship through sarging?

He and his right hand have been going strong

I would tell you to give my boy Frankie a ring, but sadly he is not with us anymore.

Each time I drive by Toronto, I pass by his resting place. May his soul rest in peace.

This would be poor judgement. No girl deserves that

Oh snap. I just saw this.

Meetup.com is pretty good for getting together with other people who share similar interests. I’ve joined a few groups and occasionally hang out with them. Many are cool people like you and I who just want to enjoy time away from reality tv.

I did a sushi mixer a few weeks back which was spectacular. I haven’t been one to dabble in sushi, so it was nice to go into it with a group of cool people whom could offer suggestions and insight.

I also loved the time I spent in Montreal. You’ll find lots of fun things to do.

^ What did you end up doing in Montreal besides visiting the world renown strip joints?

I actually was there for work attending a conference at one of the big insurance companies. I didn’t do a whole lot to be honest. No strip joints either.

I ate some poutine, walked through the fashion district, checked out the old port or something, and yeah. I wasn’t there too long. See my strip club thread.

Is this me that you are talking about? laugh

Montreal has the cultural aspect/atmosphere that other big cities don’t have.
