i just have no idea how i fared on the level 2 exam this year. were most of you guys feeling confident after you took it last year? i’m really bad at gauging how i perform on tests, and i tend to be overly negative, but i’m feeling like i failed. did anyone here feel this way and end up passing last year? almost a month has gone by and i guess i’m struggling to stay positive. thanks in advance for your response.
After taking the exam, I was relatively confident that I passed, but no so confident that not passing would have surprised me. Then there was a big long thread about a bunch of questions, and I no longer felt confident at all, I made so many dumb little errors. In the end, though, I did pass, and actually did better at L2 than I did at L1. Try not to stress out about it too much. There’s nothing you can do now but wait. And if you have to take it again, about 75% of the stuff will probably be review, so it won’t be quite as hard the next time around. The 3 main bummers if you don’t pass are 1) you got to shell out more cash without moving forward, 2) you have to wait a year to do it again, and 3) admitting to the people who saw you cramming in May and June that it didn’t work out, especially if they don’t understand how challenging the test is. But until you get news, you have a choice of being optimistic or pessimistic. Neither will change your score, but one will make the next month or two go by better.
I felt ok immediately after the test, but then came to AF and realized all of the problems I got wrong. I figured that for me to pass, the minimum passing score would have to be very low, and I gave myself about a 25% chance of passing. I was mentally prepared to do it all over again (had my study schedule already planned out). Needless to say, I was very relieved to have LII out of the way.
don’t presume that a bunch of AFers will get the answer right in a group discussion. sometimes, only the most discerning person will get the right answer, while the group falls for an plausible incorrect choice. have faith in yourself, and your judgment, unless you yourself feel that there is good reason the group consensus may be correct.
My situation was almost identical to bchadwicks last year. That was my second time around for level 2. Reading the threads about exam questions is an absolute confidence killer. I’ve avoided them all together this year choosing rather to participate in the threads complaining about the content and length of the morning session. At this point there is nothing you can do. Enjoy your summer because before you know it, one way or the other you will be right back into this god damn thing. You need to relax and recharge yourself. I honestly didn’t mind redoing level 2 because I didn’t have a good grasp the first time around due to time constraints and other factors. Had I failed last year I would have been crushed as I put in a huge effort. Level 3 is a different deal. Once you get here, you just want to be done.
After L1: I was nervous, but passed After L2: I was extremely confident that I passed, and did After L3: I’m nervous, tbd
thanks again for the responses, folks. i hope you guys all get your charters this year… i’m envious. all that hard work is about to pay off for you guys.

cfasf1 You have to learn not to get too absorbed by the CFA exams. Just move on with your life until the exam results come out. Nothing you do now can or will help you obtain a better grade. dwelling on a CFA exam and reviewing the forumites’ answers to Qs is surely enough to make anyone go mad… “Move on… nothing to see here.”
