Ugh… tomorrow I move up a notch. 40 feels like a big honkin truck coming at you, but at least I’ll have some company here.

Just turned 50. I feel 60 sometimes, but I balance it by trying to act as immature as possible.

How was 40? Was it good at the time, or only in retrospect?

jpm351, That is lazy. If you’re going to do it - then do it properly. And properly means horizontal. And no, I’m not going to turn my laptop on it’s side because my laptop suffers from motion sickness.

I FEEL OLD

Looks lognormal

I’m 31 and if I don’t drink, sleep well [i.e. cut out heavy coffee use] and work out each day, I feel great. Willy

What’s up with the 35ers…mid-life crisis?

2nd careers. The midlife crisis comes later.

wow, someone’s 21? crazy.

I have some laundry I need done if have more spare time.

The problem with this statistic is that it is enherintly biased towards a younger demographic. Persons who are younger are much more likely to use intenet site such as this then people who are older. Stick with CFA site stats…average age is something like 35 if I am not mistaken

I am sure CFAI has their reasons to report 35 as an average age. They would much rather have industry see their designation as having 35 year old fin serv professionals rather than 25 year old IT workers looking for a career change. CFA designation used to have a 35 year average age when it was a niche designation for specific industry workers. Now that it is a golden ticket™ to wild success, I think AF is fairly representative.

I don’t think CFAI is going to falsify the data just for appearences. And I agree that AF is not a representative sample of the CFA taking population. I took these statistics as more indicative of the AF crowd, although there is probably some non-response bias there too which (I think) biases the age downwards.

^^^what bchadwick said. I am amazed at all the conspiracy theories regarding the evil CFAI empire that I have heard on this board over the past 3 years.

Yeah, who should I believe - CFAI or my lying eyes. Every time I take this test, all I see is a room full of 35 year olds. This forum is not representative either, because 35 year olds are like John Mccain, and do not know how to use the internets (They study by fax, old school). I was wrong to doubt any marketing material, because there is only one way you can present an average and it is always representative of the data, or so my sell-side manual says.

What exactly is the statistic that is being presented as 35: average candidate age? Average charterholder age? Average age on reciept of charter? The mean may be different from the median here. What one sees waking into the test room is better indicated by the median.

I meant it in a good way. I’m one of the 22 year olds.
