26, just passed Level III, 3 years of work experience.

The fact that you have to be in your final year of a university degree to enroll in the CFA program means that there should be very few L3 candidates under the age of 21. Though I wouldn’t be too surprised if there were a handful of overachieving teenagers amongst the 20,000 candidates that write the L3 every year.

Its going to become more common as people start realizing that just graduating from a top college is often not enough to break in. I have a sibling @MIT who is twice as smart as me, and like some of his class mates could very easily pass level 2 or 3 at 19 or 20 y/o. When all is said and done, orgo or deep number theory is much harder, so if they find out during junior year that to get into a hedge fund they’ll need to take level 1 in december and 2 in june…they’ll do it (and often these kids are graduating at 20/21).
