I’m living this to a degree since my GF is 9 years younger. To be honest though, the age isn’t really that big of an issue to me and comes out as a net positive. Occasionally I get frustrated at knowledge base gaps and overly emotional behavior but frankly those existed to a similar degree in most of my previous relatioships. Sometimes you just have to look at it as an opportunity for personal growth and patience and take a big picture view. Overall not so bad.
The thing you have to recognize about these people complaining about dating younger people is that they’re A) assuming a homogeneous age group and B) ignoring sample bias. I have a pretty good feeling that as a general rule (all rules having exceptions) people dating across age gaps may not all be the best representation of their respective age groups. To deny that there’s no doubt a reasonable number of 21 year olds who are intelligent, educated and driven seems over the top.
To BS’s point, I’m friends with a 45 year old helicopter test pilot. He lives with his 24 year old test engineer at the same company. I’m sure she would chew up most of you and spit you out in any setting. She’s hot as well. I would say he is “winning.” Your wives won’t like her, not so suprisingly. Always funny when his similar age female acquantices get around to asking her what she does.
In all fairness, can you honestly say that you would stay with her if she weren’t the mother of your child? I’m not suggesting that you’re staying with her out of obligation, but I suspect she matured rather quickly upon becoming a mother (at least I hope she did for the sake of your child).
Well it has certainly helped us through both periods of strain and in terms of quickly maturing her. Although to be fair I didn’t stay with any of the girls who were more my age that I dated in the past so the age variable may be less important than we’re making it out to be.
For me it’s about trade offs. I had gotten very frustrated with dating older girls (more my age). I felt years of past failed relationships created a dating pool that contained a lot of desperation, cynicism, and expectation of failure at the expense of sincere emotions, faith in the relationship and physical chemistry. Also, I have no problem doing home remodeling on weekends, waking up early, going to museums etc. but I also need a more youthful component that was missing from older relationships. As an extreme example it also allows me at 32 to go to an occasional EDM event with her that I otherwise would have been very out of place at. So for me personally, it’s very worth it and she keeps me youthful. To your point these things come with some trade offs its just a personal decision. On a more physical level, I’m really a big fan of youthful skin and hate the makeup look so ultimately I’m much more attracted to her than girls my age. Sure, she’ll age, but for me personally she’ll always be 9 years younger than someone same aged so I’ll always be ahead.
This was my first thought as well. If she didn’t have a child to take care of at such a young age, maybe she wouldn’t have been more responsible and matured as quickly.

So the neighbor was gone for all of Thanksgiving week but made up for it when she got back by inviting one of her friends over and both of them got t0pless within 10 minutes of coming home.
