AM Mock Scores?

I was just wondering if anyone had begun sitting mocks in ernest yet, and if so, what kind of marks are you all getting - for the AM portion particularly.

I’ve been using the 2014 version of the Schweser mock books they provide, and across the 6 AM portions I have averaged 62%.

Then I went and sat the 2005 CFAI mock this morning and got absolutely owned with a 56%…(I appreciate 2005 is pretty old but the more practice the better I reckon). I even ditched one of the questions as it was no longer relevant so I can’t even blame the fact any of the questions I did complete were out of date.

Throughout L1 and L2 I’ve regularly managed to get to around 70-85%+ for pretty much all the mocks I’ve taken, so this is new ground for me. I can’t say I like it all that much.

So am I boned or are those scores somewhere near what others are getting at this stage?

the morning session mocks are a humbling experience. Don’t freakout over the score. I think i gave myself a 40%, or close to it, on 2 or 3 actual morning exams last year… ended up passing it on my first try. The best thing you can do is do as many actual morning exams that you get your hands on, grade yourself very conservatively, and study the guideline answers like crazy. The morning is a time crunch, get used to writing in bullet point form. Not sure if Schweser stepped up their morning session practice exam game or not from last year, but their morning session tests were absolutely aweful and nothing like the real exam. After the first two, I never looked at another schweser practice test last year.

I am scoring right around 60 for the 3 AM papers that I have done. The best thing about doing the AM mocks is the guideline answers. I am not saying that I am anywhere near my goal of 70% on the AM, but I am less intimidated by AM papers than I was when I first sat down to do them. I plan on doing many more…

It seems you’re far away…

I’m getting no more than 55% in AM session (i’ve done 3 already), and have just done my first PM mock. Got 50%… quite upset to be honest, but at least I see the areas of improvement.

Long way to go… I’m tired of this s***

Dont waste your time with Schweser mocks. The old CFAI AM exams and guideline answers are gold.

What about Schweser PM mocks?

The Schweser PM mocks are OK. I did them all and it was worth the time.

I would focus a lot of my efforts preparing the AM session. It’s quite difficult and will chew you up if you’re not prepared for it.
