You are not patrolling the streets of Baghdad nor the streets/countryside of Afghanistan. How can a freakin’ pencil/paper exam even compare? For example, you aren’t going to DIE if you fail! Nor is this your only chance. If you fail, no biggie, you have another shot next year. Just want to put this test in context. You can flame me of course, but realize that I’m not trying to be an arse and am taking the same exam as all of you are and subject to the same jeopardies, pressures, uncertainties, etc.
It’s true. In the grand scheme of life events I’d put CFA (specifically Level II) somewhere between getting a promotion and being in a minor car accident. It’s clearly not at the scale of a wedding or the birth of a child. On the other hand, somewhat more significant than making the Deans list or having an editorial published in the local newspaper.

Not scared of failing, but I am not keen to put my life on hold for 4 months again while re-studying the material. now that would be a real pain
Yeah, the only fator is that you will have to read the huge volume of new fat CFAI text again.

I wish your brother the best! Just know that there’s another person in the world that couldn’t be more grateful for his service. Thankfully, there are people like him out there keeping those Taliban mofos in check.
