Go through the CFAI text book, there is several questions after each session finished, but without detailed answers or explainantion as Schweser Notes do? Qurious do you guys will take these questions also, or if you take, where to check or review?
ummmm, if you mean what i think you mean, the answers are in the back of the book.
my personal opinion, there are some questions at the back of the CFA curr which are not multiple choices and are pretty tough. do them if you have time and want to learn stuff but if you are exam oriented then dont bother doing them. instead do schweser and practice exams. however, do the multiple choice ones in the curriculum.
i’ve been debating this also. some of the questions are downright long - and take way longer then could possibly asked on the exam. but at the same time, i’m weary of falling into a trap doing just schweseer, which seem to be much more calculation based then what i’ve heard of the exam. People i know who have taken level 1 say they only used their calculator 10-20 times on the whole test. I wonder if these CFAI questions are intended to be worked through simply to gain a better understanding of the why behind questions rather then how to plug numbers into a forumula.
every single question in the cfa curriculum has an answer at the back of the book
If you start spending a ridiculous amount of time on a question, skip it. I spent waaaayyyy too long on FSA, should have hit Schweser to get a better handle on the basics first. Also, look back on the history on here, there is a ton of discussion to answer questions.
Amber, Would you agree that for the purposes of the test that the CFAI texts can, at times, delve into too much detail? I am going through book 4 right now and just did the first two readings using the schweser notes and found them more than adequate. There is no way I can do two readings in two nights with the end of chapter questions going off the CFAI texts.
I would at least read the CFA material. I can tell you I read the books, highlighted and went back and made flash cards. Then I did the questions at the end. That was definitely a good way to go but some of the review questions were just too much. I should have used Schweser when I struggled too much through a section. It is hard to nail the basics with all that info they throw at you but once you do, it is good to go back and pick up the details. It maybe be the 2-3 questions you see and randomly know to put you over the line to pass. Especially when the test is so concept heavy.
