Any exam day stories?

I got a big scare before the AM section even started.

Exam books were being passed out for the AM section. As soon as the proctor put down my exam book, I immediately noticed that the security seal was already broken, and I had not even touched the book. I almost flipped out on her. She didn’t get 2 steps away and I was like “hey THIS IS ALREADY TORN! Give me a NEW ONE NOW!”

She was like “okkkk… relaxxx. don’t flip out”

flip out? I have every right to flip out. If I didn’t notice that, and just sat there listening to the instructions and another proctor saw the broken seal before I did, I would have gotten written up for cheating and gotten royally screwed.

Thank god I caught that fast.

As the rules were being read for level 2 in the AM (there were some level 2 folk in the same massive hall as us), the proctor targeted me and came up to me and said sign the pledge. I hadn’t even opened the booklet and neither had anyone of the level 3 candidates. He kept on saying open it, sign the pledge. I must have looked confused because he kept on saying it. I said I would wait until told to (over the tannoy) like everyone else. He went and spoke to another proctor and then said to me, sorry he got it wrong. What a way to start!

Then, the girl next to me had a cold. She had a packet of tissues on her desk. They told her to put them under the desk so she did and took one out to blow her nose. This dirty tissue she kept on her desk to blow her nose. The proctor came up to her and told her to put her dirty tissue under the desk as it was a violation of CFAi testing policies to have a tissue to blow her nose with on her desk… unbelievable…

(Excuse my crap grammar - I’m half asleep still)

2 proctors kept chatting next to me in semi-hushed voices during the exam…that was a bit annoying…

obnoxious foreign guy sitting next to me w/ a watch timer that beeped every 30 mins. every 30 mins his watching beeping to alert him time wise. then he resets the 30 min timer and the watch beeps everytime he taps the setting button.

i hate people who lack self-awareness.

Hi well, we received a mail from CFAI at the start of the week saying that lunch will be available on the spot for a certain price (which I was finding very excessive - the exam was being held in a hotel) and that we were not allowed to eat our own food on the premises of the hotel. So I was all set to pay and have lunch there.

On exam day, after the AM session, the proctor announced that those who had paid for the lunch could go to the hotel restaurant. It was only then that I learnt that we had to pay for the meal in the morning. However, the problem was that the L2s and L3s were in a separate queue and most of us didn’t see that there was somebody far off in a corridor, after the L1 queue which was quite long and packed. As such, we didn’t see the hotel official there and it seems that at the time I was “checking-in” to the exam room, nobody came up to us to tell us that the guy was there.

Conclusion, I had no car, really stressed out regarding what I was going to eat. Was really hungry and would have well lived without the additional stress. Fortunately, some other friends were in the same situation as I. So we went off to look for something to eat, yet another problem, the hotel is far from any decent place to eat. I ended up eating a “farata” (a kind of flat bread), with some vegetable fillings (Note that I usually have indigestion when eating that) and a banana and a coke! By the way, regarding the hotel meal, most people told me it wasn’t worth the price especially given that under exam conditions, you’re not really in for taking a large lunch with starter, main and desert!

hehe i had a soggy tuna sandwich…the cheapest i could find…

during lunch i saw a really angry chinese lady who was scanning her notes and cursing, seemingly unhappy about her performance in the AM session…i stared at her all the time :stuck_out_tongue:

At London center, one proctor smelt like he had no shower for years and the smell distracted me so much every time he walked by.

That was probably awful!

there were really cute girls all around the London testing area…droool :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone at my test center didn’t have a passport and was turned away. I was seated next to the same guy I’ve been next to for the past few years. When I walked out of the exam, along with hundreds of others, saw a fellow candidate just urinating out in the open at the edge of the parking lot in broad daylight. I was about 10 feet from him as his crappy zipcar was next to mine. What a douche

one guy’s ticket name was wrong (first and last name reversed), didn’t have a seat or section number, and they put him in an empty see in my section… then another person in my section didn’t bring a pen and wrote the AM in pencil. Not sure about the legalities of either story bvut it was definitely interesting

I wrote the AM in pencil. I thought it was allowed?

Writing with pencil is fine, plenty of candidates do this.

pencil is just fine

the book clearly states blue or black ink. they were read out to everyone.

i used pencil last year and my exam was graded…
