Dan when did you start the CFA program? We have a feeling they’re updating these “tells” in batches bc it seems like lower canidate numbers got converted from 2 to 1 box earlier. Like I took L1 in June2012 where as someone who took L1 two years ago might be later in the pack to get their results updated in the system for this “tell”

well…you got 40k of just L3 candidates, and they’re uploading not just a Pass or a Fail. They’re uploading a bunch of stuff including your matrix etc etc. I guess it really depends on how much processing power they have over there.
Also the strange error message is weird too, esp for those that got a 1 box later after being a 2 box
I’m pretty sure that error pops up when you double click the withdraw button. I could be wrong but I got an error once doing that. I clicked it then accidentally hit it again while it was loading. That was when I saw the error message. Essentially it was withdrawing me after the first click therefore there was nothing to withdraw on the second. That was just my case though.

I am guessing now that the 2nd takers are having different results because the applied in the past - especially those who were checking last years tell
No bc there are first timers without prior applications that still have 1 box after the withdraw process.
There is definitely some strange forces at work here ladies and gentlemen. We just don’t know what it’s “telling” us LOL
I think it’s a goofy coding issue - I went back again and noticed that first instance of the scholarship access disappearing occurred on the 14th…highly doubt anything was uploaded during that time.

Currently not seeing apply scholarship doesn’t tell anything as they have Reseted every candidate ID in database so by default we dont see it. But there is a link that “Apply 2018 scholarship” that triggers a code which opens access to scholarship page.
_ What will happen next? once MPS is set and results are uploaded into Database they should run a query which will block again scholarship application access to ones who passed (will show again 1 box) and will keep it open (show 2 boxes) to ones who failed._
_ What you should do? Just start an application for 2018 scholarship and stop it on 1st step, (click save for later) and then click Withdraw. You will now see 2 boxes, then visit page regularly to see if box is still there or its gone. If gone it should be pretty sure that you’ve passed._
_ What can go wrong? They can run query to open scholarship access to failed candidates AFTER release of results, then this method will not tell anything and we all will see 2 boxes till results day._

If I combine this theory of uploading the results with the response of SJ2017:" There are potential explanations as to why passing candidates would have two boxes instead of one, versus the current theory that 1 box means you passed:
Ex: The programming in the website that edits and updates scholarship applications may only be active for those who will be eligible to apply for a scholarship next year. So, if you failed, the mechanism which withdraws and updates an active application still works. If you passed, and won’t be eligible, the programming that updates the scholarship management portal is basically inactive at this point.
Disclosure: I show two boxes. Fairly confident but not overly. And I have little confidence that this is a true tell, but there are scenarios where 2 boxes could mean pass. Just stirring the pot after a LONG time lurking :)"
So far the ‘literature’. I could build a case for the 2 boxes. You guys want to join in on debunking it? Lets go!
Lets make some assumptions:
- Even the USA Pentagon gets hacked sometimes, so, a tell due to any of the linkages of databases for a process that changes and only occurs periodically is possible. Changing it is nor easy, nor is 100% foolproof security an extremely high priority of CFAI --> rather than the accuracy of exam results itself naturally.
- Before results data was uploaded to the website, or before the scholarship link was pulled by CFAI EVERYBODY would see two boxes.
- All people with active, or earlier pulled applications would still see the scholarship box after CFAI pulled the link from our Accounts if no other differences between the people exist, because the program would ‘pop up’ due to prior activity that overrules the action to suppress the link.
- Except for maybe the results upload order, there is no difference between first time and retakers.
Now it gets highly speculative:
- During uploading the results, at random times the last 2 weeks, people with two boxes, both from the beginning, or from an application after the box was originally pulled by CFAI saw their box disappear again (and some never saw the box in the first place after withdraw, possibly because it already ‘dissapeared’) This is weird and suggests something changed which segregates the candidates. It seems that these activities have stopped for now, coincidentally now the results are fairly sure all uploaded and linked with the candidate in the databases.
- Some where able to manually trigger a query by reapplication, removing their box, instead of waiting of the daily automated query, thus giving the impression that applying and withdrawing multiple times could move you back to one box camp.
Most ‘confidence’ of passing is in people that still see, and are not able to remove the two boxes. Practically everybody who applied for scholarship, and was able to return to the one box state in the last few days, well, in aggregate, could be the group that did not pass. Most people that still see two boxes to this day and are not able to remove it could well form the pass group. There are no clear cut examples of one boxxers, that definitely passed and have seen their box dissapear, or unable to show up (right?)
Please call me out on inconsistencies, but if, if, this matches all experiences in this thread so far, then there could be some truth in theory that two boxes means a pass, because the mechanism is disabled. You can see it, and the program is disabled and therefore unable to accurately cooperate with the website after the withdrawn command is given.

On Jul 20. From the My profile link, It showed 2 boxes. I tried applying for Scholarship once and withdraw. Still 2 boxes. Tried applying again immediately and withdrew. Now 1 box only.
Able to apply for Scholarship from another link. Applied and withdrew. 1 Box still.
Band 8 retaker. 2016 bad AM and 7 sections over 70 and 3 between 50-70 in PM.
With respect to 2017, I should pass with 75+. No questions left without answering with enough time to review also. I have designed fresh business cards on Vista print with the designation. I run an advisory firm.
Enrollment is from 2003. I completed 2 levels by 2005 and dropped out before getting back in 2016 from a marketing perspective.
Was a CFA institute member between 2006 and 2009. One change i see is till June or so, I had a link to renew membership (and during results last year too) but now see a link for applying for membership.
@hedgee I was never a member but I can see the apply for membership link too. But I think that may be common among all tho. 1 box too, just tried it again for the millionth time.
I used to have a “Renew Membership” all these period that has now changed to “Apply for Membership”.
I had 2 boxes and on second attempt (mins after the first one) became 1 Box.
Not sure what is a tell and what is not with over 15 days to go for results date.
