You applied, withdrew, and get the views on the right hand side (ie, no 2nd box or no scholarship links)? When did you apply and was it your first time?
@FromZero - I don’t think there are a bunch of different variations of what is going on? It seems like all of those who have never applied for a scholarship have nothing about scholarships on their page (with the one exception of I guess Mitchell?). Of those who have applied - we all get the “scholarship” links (left hand pictures on the Twitter account). Of those who have withdrawn - it seems some still have the links and some do not (hence, the tell).
If Mitchell is mistaken, then everyone else follows the same path except for some have links after withdrawal and some do not (sign of passing?).
I applied for the scholarship in June and withdrew it in June. (I was reading last years posts about 1 box and 2 box tell and started playing around the site)
I just logged on to CFAI and I had the “Access Scholarship” link.
I applied for the scholarship today and withdrew it today.
Now the Link is gone.
Has anyone applied and withdrawn that still has the link?
I think the applying and withdrawing is complicating the picture. How about upon login who has: a) 1 or 2 boxes b) access scholarship or no access scholarship. And what is your feelings on passing. Last year’s tell was spot on (I was on the losing side of it).
This year I have 1 box and no access scholarship upon logging in. I feel decently confident about my chances of passing.
Hi, I specifically joined this forum to chime in on this year’s tell. As others have mentioned, the tell last year turned out to be true for me (and I failed, as the tell had predicted). When I checked this forum yesterday, when this all begin - I had an old scholarship application in 2016 which had been withdrawn (due to checking last year’s tell) and upon logging in I was able to see all the scholarship stuff everywhere. When I applied and withdrew yesterday, I still saw all the scholarship stuff and given the discussion felt like I had failed again this year. Now, I just tried the scholarship application again today and withdrew and now it has all disappeared. I feel like I could be on the fence for passing so not sure I’m the best person to assess. A couple theories:
-given they do “senior grading” for middle 50%, perhaps the people who were guaranteed pass/fail (i.e. in the lower and upper 25%) had the tell true for them as of yesterday, since this is the second week of grading, etc. so you could say that they uploaded those results and those are all guaranteed pass or fail given where they fall in the distribution. Now, as the week progresses, they are uploading more results.
-given that this is impacting L2 as well, which there doesnt seem to be a good reason for, it is possible that it is purely a glitch and may or may not have anything to do with pass/fail but perhaps has more to do with the order in which they are uploading results.
-it would be helpful if everyone could list out clearly if they had any past scholarship applications in the past and if those had been withdrawn, and how many times and on what days they tested the tell this week.
-it would also be helpful to know if there were any past perceived tells that did not turn out to be true, or if they all turn out to be true…
this is getting crazy and probably a bit unhealthy, it’s certainly given me some anxiety. I think we would all be better served to move on and wait for actual results. The simple answer here is that no one knows, and anyone who does know definitively isn’t going to post it here.
Exactly. This is not my first time. I actually gave it a few tries yesterday. And as well as last year when I failed to do this 1 box 2 box trick. For me, last year was a tell because I did have 2 boxes. So yeah, in summary I think we have the same results. Applied and withdrew. No second box, no scholarship link.
but last year’s tell was not the same boxes that we’re referring to now.
Last year, the boxes were inside the scholarship page. If you passed, you got another box in the scholarship page that said “you are not eligible for an access scholarship”. This year, the boxes we’re referring to are just if you see the scholarship application boxes.
Right, I didn’t get the “you are not eligible for scholarship etc etc etc” note in last year’s tell. And yes, it was in the scholarship page. This year is different.
I wonder what CFAI thinks about all of us that are all of the sudden applying for scholarships and immediately withdrawing. I don’t have any programing or experience running a website, but wouldn’t they notice this frenzy of odd activity on the site and fix the bugs?
