Anyone done this before?

So I saw a job posted that I thought *could* be interesting. Put in a feeler and got a bite. Had a phone interview and got asked to go over for a proper day of interviews. Jumped on the plane, had the interview. At no point, did I actually feel like this is the job for me, although I was hoping that it would get better as I found out more. It didn’t and I didn’t really dig the people (they were mainly a bit older than me & I couldn’t see the fun element). But I went along for the practice anyway. Took a day off, threw my schedule about at short notice etc. Anyway, didn’t get the offer (can’t help but think that my lack of real desire came through). I did get some interview experience though (first one for a few years) and that was something I thought would be worth doing. Am I mad? Or has anyone else been along to interviews just to test the water & get a real life experience. I already have a job, so not talking about grads looking for the first taster.

I think thats pretty common. I know friends of mine who are constantly interviewing just to see how attractive they are.

I interviewed with Citi 2 weeks ago in NYC. When HR called me for an interview, I was like wow but when they told me that they are looking for some Back Office people, I didn’t want to go. After getting couple of calls from HR again, I was like ok let’s go for the practice. Obviously I didn’t get the offer because I had no fkin idea how OTC derivatives are cleared and settled:) I am with Ass_Man here. I still have my resume uploaded on few websites and I do get call time to time from recruiters asking if I am available

I usually stick to Guess and Trade Shows. Maybe we can swap head shot and get Orange Mocha Frappuccinos, then maybe, IDK, Gasoline fight?!?

Money was good 120+ Bonus but don’t want to move to BO.

Good to see others doing it too, was wondering if I was the only mentalist. In my case, it was for a 300k all-in job, reasonably senior position. I interviewed all day long (about 7 back to back meetings inc. lunch), gave a presentation, met the top brass. Quite exhausting considering the preparation and pressing pause on real life. Took me 2 days to recover. A bit surreal all in all!

Did they give you lunch. I interviewed for a risk management position via videoconference for 8 hours. No one thought to give me lunch (or enough time to go out and get some). Fortunately I had bought a snack before the interview and hadn’t finished it. I wonder if they do that to all their candidates. Apparently they (or at least the manager they hired from Countrywide) decided my quant skills were insufficient for their needs… but they sure screwed up on the qualitative stuff.

i’ve done this at a few places recently actually, very helpful to brush up on interview skills in a real-life situation. throw in a bunch of resumes, get a few calls and go talk to them, it was very helpful cause i havent interviewed in a long time either. they flew me to the bay area a few times for some nice wine country weekends too, sweet

Im going to an interview Monday for a job I already know I wont take. I havent interviewed in 5 years so the experience is well worth it.

Just finished an interview wish MSCI… felt good-.-

Just to add that - my recruiter is not calling me back or replying my emails. The last time we spoke, he mentioned that if I were not interested in taking that job, I shouldn’t have gone there for interview. WTF - Aren’t they like pimps? It’s their job to show me hookers and I will choose who I want to spend time with.
