Thinking about a quick Staples run to see if they have them. Anyone tried them out yet? Any good?
Only thing I could find up here in my Staples were papermates. Hate those things…they are too skiny and I can’t write with them. But…I absolutely love my Bic Clickmaster pencils. Friggin awesome. But it looks like they are being discontinued. So I bought the last 8 packages. Hopefully I’ll be done CFA before I get through all of them
Lol…BB all you will need is one of those pens and then you’re done for good!
i think i bought some last week. pretty sure they were pilots. ink quality and appearance is pretty bad… and they rub off very easily, much much easier than pencil. so i can see your writing looking more faint over time.
I bought them and planning to use them on the exam. Works very well as compared to papermate erasable.
Papermate’s are terible. I tried them and they smear really bad. The Pilot FriXon works well. It’s a gel style ink, slightly more faded looking than regular ink but doesn’t smear once applied.
Yeah, just got the Frixion and used it for a few minutes. It seems to work pretty well. Ink is a little light and smears if you swipe immediately. So gotta be careful for that. But it writes quickly and smoothly. Think I’m gonna use it on game day.
Still waiting on my good ones, I bought the papermates as a backup and found them to be $hittier than I remember when I tried them in the mid/late 80s. If the Frixion’s don’t arive in time I’m going with a non-papermate pen.
bankin i got 3 at staples for $5.50, if you have one nearby.
I had to order mine in from Quebec. They should be here tomorrow. Those papermates are terrible. If somehow the pilots don’t show up, i’ll write with a uniball jetstream. Those are by far the best pens i’ve come across. Expensive vs a papermate, but at least it doesn’t feel like you are towing an anchor across the page when you write.
FriXion is great. Perfect really. If you’re using them pre-exam, make sure to get a couple because they run out of ink faster than a regular pen.
I’m sure this puts me way into the category of complete wacko, but I “erased” some things written with a FriXion and then put the paper in refrigerator. As feared, the “erased” stuff reappeared. I realize this is a bit extreme, but let’s hope CFAI doesn’t store the exams in a room with some serious AC.
hahaha, Higgmond, you have way too much time on your hands.
Wow, that’s crazy. Now I’m paranoid, thanks
Sorry ng. It wasn’t my intention to may anyone paranoid, not consciously anyway. It does have me a little concerned though. Way too paranoid on my part, I’m sure.
i bought some really nice ones (6 in total) in a store
I have to ask a stupid question, with all this concern over the erasable pens…why not use a regular pen? Does the CFAI really care if you cross something out?
i’m using a regular pen and crossing stuff out if I want to re-write something. my strategy is to think about the answer for a minute and then write it down. if you need to scratch out/erase/whatever more than a few things, then you are probably going to be getting into some serious time management issues.
Pilot erasable is 1mm, so it’s not that sharp. There is a papermate one (ball point instead of gel ink)
The Pilot ones I got are .7mm gel
