Anyone interested to join the study group

I am writing FRM Level 1 exam in May 2012. I have passed CFA level 1 and study group has been great help me for the preparation of the exam. Please let me know if anyone is interested to join the group.

Thanks,

Rama

I am interested to form a group in USA.

Me too

I’m interested, what communication format did you have in mind?

It looks like Rama and Shivgan3 were focused on the May exam. So let’s get the ball rolling for November. I just signed up for the exam, and I’m looking into Bionic Turtle review materials. I’m not sure how to run an online study group. Would you want to do problems together (through skype)? It’ll probably be July before I’m ready to get started (still need to receive books too).

Let me know if anyone’s interested in forming a study group for the Nov. '12 test. I’ve barely gotten started and its been slow so far. I’m using Bionic Turtle and Schweser notes for the test. We can check in every week witha predefined # of topics and that way stay on track with the schedule. At least, that’s the idea.

Based out of NYC.

Started reading Book 1 of Schweser yesterday. Planning on getting the BT videos some time this month. What are your study schedules?

@Citeh12 - How are the BT materials so far? Did you get the package with the videos or just the notes?

Got the videos and notes. No spreadsheets I think but I think I have enough materials to get through. BT is good. The videos are great, very clear and cover the topics well. I haven’t started doing the BT questions yet but need to get started on that.

How much time are you targeting to get through all of Schweser?

Hi all. I just signed up for part 1 and part 2. I will be using Schweser notes and BT for videos/practice questions. Curious what your study plans are?

Signed up for Part 1 only. Planning on using Schweser for notes and BT for video/practice Q’s as well. From what I’ve read, this seems to be the best combination. Can anyone comment on this?

I’m following the ~200 hours recommended study time set by GARP. Allotting about 100 hours to Schweser alone as the notes are about 1000 pages long and the rest of the time for review (videos/practice questions/exams). We still have 100 days til the exam so I’m setting aside 2 hours a day for studying. How bout you guys?

I’ve heard that’s the best combination. Most of the Schweser end of chapter questions are pretty straightforward so I’ve heard that BT questions are much better in terms of exam practice.

I’m planning on reading the Schweser chapters and then watching the videos specifically to review areas that the Schweser notes don’t explain all that well. I think 2 hours a day sounds reasonable. Obviously I’m planning to do a little more on weekends and build momentum leading upto the test.

Similar strategy, but need to be in more hours, since I will be sitting for both exams. I must admit, the BT website / products are light years behind Schweser (understandbly so). Will take a little to get acquainted with their system, but look forward to their content (since everyone seems to prefer them vs. competitors).

Let’s try to keep this forum alive with questions/comments on the material. I’ll check in often.
